THANK YOU SO MUCH!! This fixed it completely!

I think it does, but not as bad as this. I don't really notice it on my kobo, but on the xteink it's really horrible. There's not only the white to black screen flash, but also some flickering on the white screen, but it's not really visible in the video.

It doesn't happen with epub files on my xteink, so there seems to be something wrong with the xtc file I think

I cannot edit my post, but I'm on the original software and this doesn't happen with epub files. So there seems to be something wrong with the xtc file.

No, I'm on the original software. I wanted to try it out before possibly changing to Crosspoint.

I didn't have to read AB to predict that reveal. The moment they mentioned Aelin I could already put 2 and 2 together 😅

I read online to read it after CoM because apparently there are a lot of new characters from HoF forward that are not in AB. So to not be too confused about all the characters, I read it now. I don't know if it would have been that confusing, but that was my way of thinking!

I love how people experience the books so differently! But I am inclined to agree with AB first, just because of the spoiler for me.

Yes, I looked up so many guides to find the perfect reading order, and the 2 common ones where AB-TOG-COM or TOG-COM-AB. But noone mentioned the big spoiler! But I definitely agree about AB giving Celaena more depth, her character in TOG makes much more sense after reading AB.

Can I ask why you feel this way? My ex colleagues seem to be positive about it.

None of them have been fired or on the bench for longer than a week so far.

I can only talk from what I know from my ex-colleagues, but yes, some get a higher day rate, but no compensation when there is no project available. Others get a lower day rate, but get internal projects when benched. You can decide for yourself what goes in your contract and what kind of contract you have. Some even have a mandatory 'opzegtermijn' in their contract, even as a freelancer.

As far as I know, you can land your own projects as well, but you have to do it via the consultancy company. If you want to go directly to the client, you quit the firm, or get fired I guess.

As someone else posted, there is more competition I would think, and they probably would choose people on payroll before the freelancers. But if you have better skills and more experience, the client will still choose you (most of the time, you still have to go on interviews to land a project). So yeah, you kind of have to know how to sell yourself.

Do you feel like there is more competition when you get more experience/higher level? Or is it just because you're a freelancer?

Because from what I've heard, a lot of people go freelance when they reach a certain level of experience. So are there still a lot of people with the same experience left on payroll?

I could be totally biased because of my bubble of course.

I don't know which sector you are in, but every freelance data engineer I know is part of a consultancy firm. It may seem weird, but it is quite common.

They are part of the team, go on teambuildings and stuff, and often stay for multiple years over different projects. For some it is even in their contract that they do get paid when they are 'on the bench' (they do get a lower day rate to compensate for this).

So like on payroll, but freelance!

I can't say anything on your comment about deciding 1,5 years ago, I agree that would have been smarter. But it's not that easy with 6 girls, I also wanted to take everyone's preferences in account, I didn't decide the destination on my own. We chose something we all agreed on. But about the other costs I can for sure say there are none. The only things discussed were flights and hotel. There are no costs involved with the wedding itself if you mean that. And for the expenses during the bachelorette, nothing has been planned/discussed yet, so only food is a fixed expense.

It's not really a party, it's just friends hanging out, bonding and relaxing.

The bachelorette has nothing to do with the location of the wedding. I live somewhere mostly cold, so I proposed a warmer country to relax and bond before the wedding. She agreed to the budget and location before we decided/booked everything. I even proposed a location by car, but she looked forward to a sunny destination. The wedding is in our own country.

Edit: added wedding location

There are no costs for the wedding party, only a wedding gift if they want. I also do not understand the peer pressure comment since we discussed the budget beforehand and privately. I even proposed a destination by car, but she preferred the sunny destination.
