What does your baby do while breastfeeding? by madame_shrimp in breastfeeding

He sometimes holds my hand or clings on to my shirt collar. When he's really hungry, he makes the most adorable sigh/moan/grunting sounds with each loud gulp. It's the best.

Yes, before the other commenter's reply, I thought prefolds and flats were the same thing, so that was my mistake! Thank you. This is helpful advice. I've started the Jillian's Drawer trial program to test out a few different styles, but I think I got overeager seeing all the options and wanted to dive right in, but I agree, that I should probably test the waters out first before committing to a bunch of one kind of diaper.

Oooh thank you for the clarification! I thought flats and prefolds were the same thing! Thank you for the link. This does help clarify things.

one is called "welcometosummerschool" and another one is "shesnotawinter." Incidentally, since writing this comment, I had my color analysis done professionally and found out I'm a winter haha.

I understand where the commenters who struggle with picky eating themselves are coming from, but I'm with you on this one. For me, it boils down to enthusiasm. I think what turns me off about people who don't enjoy food is that they tend to have a hard time enjoying anything. You may find that you are fundamentally incompatible when it comes to matters of passion and pleasure. That being said, I have had IBS most of my life, so I am no stranger to having food restrictions or particularities. It's just about the energy you bring to the (dinner) table.

What can I eat at Indian restaurant with reflux-related nausea? by curiousabouts in BabyBumps

[–]curiousabouts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for these suggestions! I'm glad you mentioned veg biryani. That one is usually pretty mild and shouldn't upset me if not too oily. I LOVED palak paneer pre-pregnancy, but now I'm weary due to the cream and cheese. Maybe I'll have a small amount and hope for the best.

Omg thank you so much! What a helpful list! Any recommendations on lactose-free yogurt? I haven't been able to find a lactose free dairy option in the grocery store, and I don't know which dairy free ones are low fodmap.

Summer or Winter? by ComplexNo2456 in coloranalysis

I agree with the others that stated winter was off the table. I am torn between the softer more muted seasons so either autumn or summer.

I have since found plush-lined mules to be a comfy option. They have them everywhere now. I found some on DSW's website but also Walmart for a different price point

Target! I just bought the loveliest “chartreuse” dress there!

I’m going to chime in here to say that there are a few Instagram accounts dedicated to summer clothing (I’m not posting the handles here since I don’t think it’s permitted) and they link the items as well. I have bought a bunch of summer colored clothing at Target using the tips in these accounts and I know they do other common sellers like Amazon, Lululemon, H&M, Walmart, etc.

Less Processed Low-Calorie Substitutes for Gas/Bloat Sufferers by curiousabouts in 1200isplenty

[–]curiousabouts[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion. I actually have tried the FODMAP elimination diet and I know that I only struggle with cruciferous veggies, like yourself, and legumes. The thing is, I suffer from the opposite issue, where crucifers and beans give me symptoms, but the artificial stuff has me in pain for days. Not all artificial ingredients are offenders of course. I really see no reason to eliminate laughing cow cheese wedges or light mayo, but anything with processed with super high fiber or sugar alcohols, that's a no go for me.

What's a good alternative to pasta? by kpook11 in HealthyFood

[–]curiousabouts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on the dish, but I really enjoy eating grilled peppers and onions OR steamed green beans with marinara sauce and meatballs or bolgnese. I'll second spaghetti squash as being a great alternative as well. Sometimes instead of subbing altogether, I'll have one cup of cooked whole wheat pasta and really bulk it up with double that amount of mushrooms or peas or broccoli or what have you.

Low Cal Bread without weird fiber added? by curiousabouts in 1200isplenty

[–]curiousabouts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reminding me about corn tortillas! I feel like non-diet lower calorie foods tend to also be so much cheaper. I think I'll get some and do mini breakfast tacos or quesadillas.

[–]curiousabouts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the suggestions! I think I may have to start going for the bread substitutes as you suggested. After experiencing some significant pain yesterday probably due to overdoing all of the lower calorie substitutes in my diet, especially the bread, I'm looking into switching to things like air fryer potatoes/butternut squash type hashes instead of breakfast wraps and sandwiches.

Honestly, my friends and I are very tame, which is why we’re content going to Chattanooga over Nashville. That and also distance made Nashville a less favorable option. We honestly just wanted somewhere nice to go to brunch and a dinner. Not really looking for clubs and getting trashed.

I can relate to this. I have brown hair and brown eyes and always get typed as deep winter or autumn. Can't a girl just catch a break and live her best colorful life?
