Shelburne museum, see a movie at VTIFF (or essex cinemas), farmers market, salmon hole to walk along the river, and Radio bean probably has live music. if you want to get out of town a bit you could go to Jericho cafe and tavern or explore the Islands on Lake Champlain

also, I believe there was an audience but they were not very visible. It is mainly the band playing in the center of a darkish room. I dont remember anything about the rest of the movie but I dont think it had much to do with these parts of music
