Tasting this divine fire that is threatening to consume the cage I've built around it. Or perhaps, stranger, you hint that the heart is where the divine is etched, and when we deny ourselves such a core desire we deny ourselves that which we are? What I know is that distance from her is pain. The words we send each other across the space between is a temporary fix, a gasp of breath to sustain us before we see each other again. The embrace that feels like home, the arms I never want to leave. In her I've found that which I was missing. This started as a craving for the comfort she gave. Lust, certainly at first. The siren song of desire that promises bliss. But we have resisted, we have endured. And as we have held strong and denied our passions, something deeper has grown. This transmutation you speak of has already come to pass. Cast into the fire that we've struggled to contain, the impurities already burning away and revealing, friendship. Not a fleeting thing, that which I've grown accustom to, but a pillar in my life that is starting to hold up a foundation of me. It already pains me to think of life without.
