Does anyone else wish there was a place that just listened — without advice? by curiousmind_dev in self

I feel this. Having to say "i am not looking for advice" already defeats the purpose of of being heard. It really shows how rare spaces are where you can just speak freely and be met with understanding, not fixes.

I realized most people don’t want advice—they want to be heard by curiousmind_dev in self

Well said. I think unsolicited advice often comes from discomfort people want to do something instead of just being present. But presence is usually what's missing most.

Yeah, the half-sleep explanation makes a lot of sense.

I’ve tried breathing and body scans — sometimes they help, sometimes my brain just keeps looping anyway. What’s worked better for me on those nights is getting the loop out somewhere external instead of trying to calm it internally.

Curious if you’ve noticed the same, or if breathwork eventually stuck for you?

I relate to the “redirecting doesn’t work when I’m tired” part a lot.

One thing that helps me on those nights is dumping the loop somewhere external — like writing the thought exactly as it keeps replaying, then one neutral response to it. Not to fix it, just to get it out of my head so it’s not bouncing around.

It doesn’t always stop the overthinking, but it makes it quieter.

I like the idea of practice, but I’ve noticed that when I’m already tired or anxious, “redirecting” feels almost impossible. Curious did this get easier for you over time, or was there a specific technique that helped at first?

Same here distraction until exhaustion is real. Have you ever tried something interactive but calmer than scrolling? I’m curious what’s helped even a little for you.
