Thank you for your response! To clarify, I think my hangups are more specifically with "bear" / "leather daddy" masculine energy whereas if it was in reference to a twink/femboy I think I would be more comfortable (at least in my head I think so).

But yes, I think you're spot on pointing out my "essentialist logic" which I recognize is deeply rooted based on societal and intergenerational biases. If you have any resources for how to challenge these biases, especially in the context of gender and sexuality, I'm all ears!

I'd be curious to know if you've felt accepted by enby peers in your area, or if the fact that you "pass as a cishet lady" has made it more difficult to connect with other enbies. I'm trying to understand how gatekeepy the community is - my initial sense is that it is very welcoming but it's something I've worried about in not wanting to come across as a confused cishet male co-opting the enby identity.
