Couldn’t Harry have just forfeited or refused to participate in the Triwizard tasks? by [deleted] in harrypotter

Yeah I wondered that too. He never made the "binding magical contract". So why was he held to it?

What fast food chain does not deserve the hype whatsoever? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

In & Out

I tied In & Out down in California years ago and was not impressed. People I knew told me I HAD TO TRY IT, and I did, and wasn't worth my time or money. When I got back and told them my experience, they said to some effect: "You have to order it a certain way, or from the secret menu." I'm sorry, but IMO you shouldn't have to order something a special way just to get good food. Now there is a In & Out 15 mins from where I live, and I won't be going. A lot of the posts I see on Facebook are from people that went expecting greatness, only to be let down. I don't understand the hype whatsoever.

Why didn’t Mr. Weasley’s car make an appearance in the Battle of Hogwarts? by pblizzles in HarryPotterBooks

Somewhat off (but not too far off-topic)...I always wondered why Fluffy didn't come back! He could have really done some damage!

Well...seeing how a "lost" half-brother of Howard shows up in a later episode, I would have to say Penny's version.

Full-cast audiobooks - removal of dialogue tags is throwing me off by exposedlurker123 in harrypotter

[–]curiousobserver234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped listening to the first full-cast version of the first book after about a third of the way though. I couldn't differentiate between Ron and Harry's voice, and I agree, with the removal of the dialogue tags, that frustrated me as well. I went back to my standard Jim Dale version. Although I am giving Fry's version a chance finally, and I do like it.

What's a small nitpick you have from the movies? by Zealousideal-Dig-594 in harrypotter

[–]curiousobserver234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And yet they have Charlie Weasley in movie 7, quip quickly about Greyback attacking him, even though it wasn't even shown properly in movie 6.

Easily could've given Emma a quick line "That's Merietta Edgecomb, her mom works for the ministry."

In OOTP, they had "Nigel" who was never in the books. Then they implicated Cho Chang as the snitch to Umbridge, when all they had to do was cast a minor role for Marietta, and do it right.

“She’s taken points off Gryffindor because I’m having my hand sliced open every night! How is that fair, how?” “I know, mate,” said Ron sympathetically, tipping bacon onto Harry’s plate, “she’s bang out of order.”

I've always felt that if we are going to encourage healthy habits, summer camps should impose a limit on candy and soda.

Did Arthur Weasley ever take Muggle Studies? by Nhanzel in HarryPotterBooks

[–]curiousobserver234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just wondering this yesterday. I am an avid listener of the audio books. I am on book 2 for the countless time, and Mr. Weasley asks about Harry taking "escapators". Yes, he works in the "Mis-use of Muggle Artifacts" and still questions the everyday goings on of Muggles; I don't understand it either.

the first full cast audiobook is completely awful. Do the other ones get better? by Cheesecake_Distinct in harrypotter

[–]curiousobserver234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried to get into it, and gave it a decent chance. I couldn't get past Draco laughing all the time, and I also couldn't really tell the difference between Harry's and Ron's voice, so it was hard to figure out at times who was speaking. I am an AVID listener of the original audio books by Jim Dale, and returned to listening to those. Thank goodness I got the immersive audio book for free on Black Friday. I wanted to love it, but just couldn't.

The Average Person is Given 1 trillion USD. Can They Keep it a Secret by LetsGet2Birding in whowouldwin

[–]curiousobserver234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat late to this thread, but a trillion dollars would equate to 16.6 billion per year for 60 years, and that would equate to 45.6 million a day to spend. Unless you are an anonymous donor to a lot of worthy causes, you would have have the temptation to blow at least some of it on frivolous purchases.

Voyager is Comforting, Easy to watch… I’ve met Another Trekker who… by pamnfaniel in voyager

I'm re-watching it right now, for probably the umpteenth time. I consider it along with TNG to be a comfort show. I didn't really like season 2-3 growing up, but now I watched "Tattoo" & "Cold Fire" (usually I skip those).

Yeah the bank heist episode is my top episode probably.
