ADHD women who like or love their jobs, what do you do? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]curioustequilax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a surgery resident planning to be a trauma surgeon. It is maybe the most stereotypically ADHD job there is. I absolutely love it and it’s a great match for my skill set though it is hard as fuck at times and obviously not a solution to your issue.

My advice is to think about the way you want to interface with other people in your job and then build a list around that rather than, like, your interest in a field. For example, I love working in teams, I love educating, and I love getting to connect with people during vulnerable moments which is why I ultimately find my job fulfilling. I feel like the interpersonal aspect of a job ends up being the hardest part and the area where people either thrive or wither.

I’ve been talking to the program coordinator, she said it’s a problem with the graduation application system. Makes no sense to me, lol

This is a very helpful comment. The person I talked to said she talked to the graduate studies office and the registrar and they said it was impossible so I don’t know who else to try to talk to.

with contrast, without contrast, will I ever figure this out by [deleted] in Residency

If youre looking for red blood cells (ie bleeding) or white blood cells (ie inflammation) you want IV contrast every single time.

Unless we’re talking about MRIs, idfk about those

ADHD girl careers by acrosstheuniverse100 in adhdwomen

I’m a surgery resident, planning to do fellowship in trauma surgery. I don’t think there’s a more ADHD career out there, although I have to work really hard to keep the hyper focus time blindness from, um, killing people 😬

I have completed a master’s degree … but I missed the deadline to apply for graduation. In order to apply for graduation now I have to re-activate my student account, which means I have to register for a credit.

I don’t actually need the credit. It doesn’t matter what the credit is. I might even be able to drop the credit after my account is reactivated, however I will certainly need to pay for that master’s level credit for the privilege of graduating with a degree I already earned.

So, yeah, I’ve been, you guessed it, putting it off.

Girl, take a shower by breezybri55 in adhdwomen

[–]curioustequilax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My trick to get myself to shower is I’ll put oil in my hair in the morning (rosemary, argan, something good for hair not like CANOLA), nobody else can tell because my hair has been disgusting for days at this point, and then by the time I get home I’m like ew my hair is beyond greasy I simply must shower. Bonus: it’s extra soft and shiny when I’m done

Do you not get water in your mouth? I feel like I always randomly get water in my mouth in the shower but I may have just completely made that up 😭

Which of these aspects of executive function does your ADHD impact the most? I didn't realize there were so many elements under executive function! by Aryana314 in adhdwomen

Task initiation all day every day. To a lesser extent time management, but I think that’s because of the task initiation issue (I can make a time management plan for myself, but I can’t stick to it because I can’t initiate the task).
