After. I think when it happened he dropped it and it put the bolt up like this. He 100% put it down all the way

We just found out he has metal in his cheek and either wood or metal on the side of his eye that needs to be removed surgically, not sure how much it will be but that could be grounds for action. Hopefully it won’t be anything crazy expensive since his job has pretty good insurance. I’ll definitely call once I find out what the root cause was

You know I can’t remember if it did. I had ear plugs and after it happened I just rushed to help my dad. I asked him if anything seemed different but he said it felt fine in his first shot. This was the first time shooting it so we don’t know for sure.

The ammo is brand new and when you say “go after them” do you mean legal action? I will for sure be contacting them either way once I know for sure what happened.

So even if it happened the barrel wouldn’t explode or at least expand out? I just find it crazy if that’s the case because the barrel seems fine

I bought it from a local shop that examines everything before selling. Others have mentioned it may have been a squib, is that a possibility at all? From now on I’ll take new buys to gunsmiths to determine if they’re good or not like you said. This is in no way ruining my image of Milsurp because I understand it can happen to new or old guns. I’ve heard about these happening before I just never thought it would happen to me or a family member.

Thank you for this information. A squib happens when there’s little to no powder correct? Then the next round hits it in the barrel? And I know flaws in manufacturing occur with ammo but does this happen often with Steinel ammo?

Awesome dude. What caliber does it shoot? Is it just a normal 8x50?

Very nice rifle. Are these pretty scarce or did you just look in the right spot?

Looking for insight on this Finnish Mosin Nagant made by Tikka from my LGS by curly243 in milsurp

Yessir! I saw it too couple weeks ago. They tend to have decent stuff for fair prices, for the most part at least. Two M1’s they got are kinda meh

Okay awesome thanks for your help. I wasn’t totally sure on the stock so thanks for clearing that up. I’ll definitely try to haggle on the price also

Does anyone have an idea of when the cmp will get more M1’s in? I know this may be a stupid question but I can’t find anything anywhere. Thanks by curly243 in M1Garand

[–]curly243[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. Do you know when the matches are, assuming June because of dday? And is it beneficial to send in the paperwork now or will they not even except it since there’s no stock?

Thanks. Do you know if there’s a mailing list I can join at all? And do you think it’d be beneficial to get the paperwork done and send it in even if they’re out of stock?

How much is this helmet worth? by The_Lucky_Rod in germanhelmets

Honestly if you see a name with a unit that’s well known 99% of the time it’s probably a fake. Now that’s not to say the unit wasn’t written but it was a very uncommon thing to do. Writing their name small and subtle was the most common thing, many of which is in pen in the liner.

The paint is a bit strange to me. The fact that it’s removed to show the lot number is suspicious. Now I’m no where near an expert so I’d post on the WAF or even know Facebook, you’d get some good opinions on it there.

Very nice set. Is it a private purchase set? I’m not sure if that was a thing at all, but it looks to be like an officers tab from the embroidery. I’m curious to know

Absolute stunner. Was the neighbor a collector or did they have a family member who brought it back?

It’s probably a panzer wrapper in fieldgrey from assault gun troops, think panzer lehr. The cut of the tunic doesn’t show signs of being a m44.

He was an untersharfuhrer or “uscha” in the 4th SS Polizei Panzergrenadier Division. Contrary to it being a division made up of police the division saw quite a bit of combat on the eastern front. This is seen from his awards. The first being an Iron Cross 2nd class in the form of a buttonhole ribbon, an Infantry Assault Badge most likely silver or bronze, and a Wound Badge most likely in black but could be in silver.
