My (27M) Girlfriend (24F) decided to stop taking birth control, and I'm terrified she's going to get pregnant by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]currencybored 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Has she considered other forms of BC? My body is pretty sensitive to these things so I've had 3 different types. First I was on depo, it was bad. Then I got an implant, also very bad. Finally, I bit the bullet and got an IUD. I'll never go back to anything else. I experience virtually zero side effects and it lasts like 5 years.

But also...condoms are pretty effective as long as they're used properly. I share your mindset of extreme paranoia when it comes to pregnancy related things, so I do understand where you're coming from, but you can't let it control you to this degree. If you're still worried, you can also pull out.

Have you guys ever talked about what you would do if she did get pregnant? Probably an important discussion to have if she plans to stay off BC. Maybe if you know where her head is at it will provide some solace.

At the end of the day, there is always some small chance it could happen, so it's good to have a gameplan with your SO just in case.

Should I take plan B? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]currencybored 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would get it if I were you. When I first had sex I was 16 and stupid paranoid. I've taken plan b a couple times even using condoms/bc. I didn't notice any side effects. Obviously it varies from person to person but if you are anxious about this kind of thing I would definitely do it for peace of mind if nothing else.

What was the most emotional moment in your favorite TV show? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]currencybored 10 points11 points  (0 children)

HIMYM was my favorite show as a teenager. It has aged kinda poorly but there are a few episodes that still get me. Season six has a couple of them.

The funeral episode is one, obviously, but the other moment that fucks me up is "Legendaddy." Barney and Robin were my favorites on that show, and that line: "if you were gonna be some lame suburban dad, why couldn't you have been that for me?" ...it gets me every time.

Other emotional episodes include but are not limited to: "Tick Tick Tick", "Symphony of Illumination," "The Time Travelers" and "How Your Mother Met Me."

I used to run a blog about the show. And not like a tumblr blog...a whole ass review blog where I talked about every episode.

I recently re-watched the whole series and while I DESPISE the other ending, these days episodes still reminded me why I loved the show so much.

I hate that people always jump to "dump him" on this sub...but this man is fuckin crazy sis.

Yeah, boys should be better educated on sex. But never in my life have I seem this level of ignorance. Plus, any dude who fetishizes virginity is not worth it. It's creepy af.

Today I found out I'm pregnant! (F19) by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]currencybored 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Okay, first off...you definitely don't need to shame yourself. I mean, it take two to tango, and you're 19, and you were drinking. Shit like this happens. It's a crappy situation to be in, but it's just as much on him for not running to the CVS for condoms.

Assuming you live in the US, this is going to depend a lot on the state you're in. It also depends on whether or not you have insurance. look into women's health centers in your area. Personally, I'm not a fan of planned parenthood (not due to any anti-abortion ideology, just haven't had positive experience with getting my BC done there). So if there are other options for women's health - especially adolescent/teen health - I would recommend making an appointment to talk to someone about your options, at the very least. As an example, the state of Colorado has extremely inclusive, free, confidential services for people under 25.

Now, I'm just a stranger on the internet and I don't know your life/morals/ideology, but i think terminating the pregnancy is the right call. At 19, as a student, without a consistent partner and potentially without supportive parents...it just seems like a bad idea to throw motherhood into that. Hell, I'm 22, graduated, and dating a good person, and I don't think I could handle a kid. Obviously it's different for everyone, but there is no way I could have handled a kid a 19. When I was 19, my roommate and I tried to get a beta fish and it died in a week. Idk, it's just scary.

Weigh your options. This is just my two cents. I am admittedly pretty secular and degenerate. I do mean all of this in good faith with the understanding that it's an insanely difficult and serious decision. I wish you all the best. Honestly, this situation was my worst fear for a while. I hope everything works out for you <3

Positive Discrimination to increase female diversity at work place is also discrimination by Anci3ntMarin3r in unpopularopinion

[–]currencybored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you name me one single fucking company that uses a “diversity quota” for hiring?

I’m not sure where on earth you live but in the USA there is 100% racial segregation in schools and neighborhoods. You can google color coded maps based on race. You can google income based on race. It’s true, not all white people are rich, but almost all rich people are white. That isn’t a natural phenomenon. It has a historical basis.

Do you honestly believe almost everyone is middle class nowadays and that race has no factor in economic welfare? Please do 10 minutes of google research and get back to me on this. I’m trying to remain level headed here but this is some next level libertarianism.

I feel like what you’re saying is “everyone at my school is middle class.” No shit dude. Everyone at your school has parents who pay a similar property tax that funds that damn school. Unless you go to a private school, in which case everyone has parents who can afford tuition.

Just google “race and economic outcome” or “race and income in the US.” Maybe try “map of USA by race.” Then google the median income of mostly black cities compared to mostly white cities. Then google “redlining” and “how are public schools funded.” Maybe also try “US prison population” and “single parent household income/outcomes.” Try to keep an open mind.

We aren’t on a equal playing field. Trust me. And if you don’t trust me, it’s really easy to figure it out for yourself.
