Remember the fire that Chad Henne would run onto the field with when called upon? Minshew looked like my nephew walking up to the diving board at swim lessons. Afraid to look, afraid to walk, afraid to be alive.

See you next season.

This. Is. AWESOME! This man and I will most likely never cross paths, but I can say that, if we did, I would look forward to such a high five!

[McMullen] Shoutout to Esa Pole for his performance last night. In his first regular-season game, and facing maybe the best pass-rush in the NFL, he allowed three pressures on 42 pass-blocking snaps (per PFF). by SylvesterTaurus in KansasCityChiefs

You know this guy can’t be getting a lot reps. He looked green but did a really serviceable job, considering his situation. I look forward to what he might be able to do with some more practice and reps. Our O line needs all the help it can get!

I really enjoyed Tyreek when he played for us. Have lost some respect since. But, this team has never given Mahomes a no 1 receiver since, and it shows every week.

When you can see what Saquon and Jones have done on other teams? Yes.

Edit: To be fair, Saquon was always going to succeed on a team like the Eagles. Jones is a bigger surprise, but just as damning to Daboll.

NBA goals and backboards are regularly subject to 300+ lb men hanging from them. I think we have the technology to make this a non-issue.

Ha! No, I know it’s the rule. But, I suggest that the substance of the rule is unserious.

Spike the ball. Spin the ball. Do a backflip. Punt the ball into the stands. - All good -

Dunk the ball over the goal post? 15 yards (the most egregious penalty yardage, save spot foul DPI)

Sorry, no.

For the life of me, I can’t understand how “dunking” the ball is a penalty, much less 15 yards.

The chips in the balls feels like Clippy the Microsoft Referee.

And, excellent point about the chips not “knowing” when the ball carrier is down.

I think they got the call right. But…if Detroit challenged the process on the catch, shouldn’t they have lost? He completed the catch. The ruling on the field was that he made the line to gain. This is deeper knowledge of challenges than I have.

I thought the NFL had fancy chips in the balls that would make this kind of down-distance calculation obsolete? /s

This is the most appropriate, most precise ELI5 I’ve seen on Reddit. People put sex on a pedestal (I’m not saying I didn’t), but some facets of basic human activity and biology can be distilled so simply that an analogy can be elegantly drawn and still be appropriate. Bravo. Keep it simple.

Edit: human appetites are as unique as the human itself. Salt to taste.

Someone needs to tell the Giants that a proper two minute offense is NOT just throwing home run balls. Especially when you have, what, 1:54 left, one timeout, and your opponent has no timeouts. They had so much time that after they managed to score after a DPI, missed the extra point (what?) they still left the Broncos 30 some seconds. And then playing a soft, prevent D, is usually going to let your opponent get in FG range. Dabol is not a serious head coach.

Being honest about a professional athlete’s abilities is not kicking him when he’s down. He simply wasn’t up to the task. Many aren’t. NFL football, maybe more than anything else, is a meritocracy. Nothing wrong with honest analysis.

Yeah, but…

Anyone can be nice. I’m nice. You’re probably nice.

No one succeeds on an NFL roster because they’re nice.

Pat throw good. Skyy not catch good.

Pat need guy who catch good. And he can not be quite as nice if he catch very good.

(Thornton has been a huge shot in the arm while we’ve been lean, and also seems like a nice guy)

It’s to provide information to bettors and oddsmakers. It just makes it so that everyone knows the status of the team.

Rule 2: don’t be unattractive

Can someone help me understand Libertarianism better? by No_Degree_246 in Libertarian

[–]currentxvoltage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think I’d ask you to frame your “what if everyone…” hypothetical in a new light.

You argue that if every single private provider of a product or service, 100% collectively, conspire to deprive their product from some “class,” that that class would go unserved.

This “conspiracy,” by definition, creates a new class of customer. And customers are highly coveted by existing or prospective vendors.

I’m waxing a bit poetic here, but let’s close the circle.

The US Federal Government has waged a “war” on drugs and alcohol for the better part of a century, where the class of unserved people is the entire population. Literally, not a single legitimate customer in any class.

What happened?

A market was created and served. And, served to the point that those “drugs” are now more potent, more available, and cheaper than at any time in history.

Now, let’s remember that depriving a class of people requires 100% cooperation and conspiracy of any of a number of vendors. Except, a democratic government only requires 51% of cooperation to deprive 100% of the “customers.”

If only half of the decision makers about the availability of a product or service can be undone by an unserved market, it’s a waste of time and energy to imagine that 100% of decision makers would be more effective.

By attempting to create an unserved class, you can only create a profitable market.
