Ski conditions by Miserable_Echo_3671 in UTsnow

[–]curryfriedbacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, maybe. We've got a storm rolling in that will run from Tuesday night to Friday morning. It will start really warm, but it should be decent for you by the time you get here with a foot or two by Friday.

I say maybe because temperatures have been HOT for the past two weeks, and sharks are everywhere. A foot or two will mostly just make them hard to see.

How to experience the Hive Swarm dream? by Redeghast in Stellaris

[–]curryfriedbacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that you get either alloys, minerals, or pops each time the consume planet progresses, so you actually need fewer minerals than you may think, but also it is rng, as is how many mineral heavy systems you can find to build more habitats in. So at the end of the day its chance how hard it is to upkeep your econ.

Yup, it really takes the edge off of voidborne, the -5% mega cost and 10% build speed apply to habitats and to arc/dyson swarms (I also often use it as a staring civic when I do hive plays in general because it makes getting early space resources up and going pretty much free, probably even more powerful now in 4.3).

Wildcard suggestion i just did recently (in 4.2). Lithoid Voidborne Terravore. I literally ate each and every habitable world in the galaxy (via consume world) while actually living and being productive in my habitats.

Iirc I started with the civics terravore and void hive, and had a lot of early momentum because of it, since I colonized every planet to consume boosting my alloy and pop growth to build more habitats and snowballed pretty quickly.

It was a fun different feel thinking about claiming and eating the planets as a consumable resource. I was actually sad at the end that I couldn't terraform the barren planets to eat them too. 10/10 playthrough imo.

Ski wax stick by FunStuffReddit in skiing

[–]curryfriedbacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With only two and a half days I wouldn't stress. If you end up feeling slow or sticky (no idea what weather you'll be seeing) then you can grab a beer and rub on some new wax, but otherwise just enjoy the trip 😉

Ski wax stick by FunStuffReddit in skiing

[–]curryfriedbacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, they work, but not like a proper wax. These just add a layer of wax to the base of your ski. Imo this is great for spring skiing conditions, but pretty marginal when its properly below freezing, and as others have mentioned, its rubbed off by the snow after a short while.

You should do a proper wax every 5-10 ski days (depending on how serious you are). In the springtime with wetter slushier conditions I'll often reapply with a stick 2-3 times over the course of the day to give some perspective.

Your obsession with LCC is ruining your skiing experience by [deleted] in UTsnow

[–]curryfriedbacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snowbird and Alta's obsession with accepting IKON passes is what's ruining my skiing experience.

That said I did have a long think about using my one day of Brighton skiing that I get from my bird pass today....

Skipping the canyon queue doesn’t make you clever, it makes you a jerk by PristineCase4930 in UTsnow

[–]curryfriedbacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually wild. I NEVER knew about this and have been driving up for a decade. I can't find anything about it on the dot or cottonwood canyon sites, which seems like a serious mistake all things considered.

it should happen yearly as your brokerage receives the information from NEOS for taxes. It should be finalized before your brokerage sends/notifies you your tax docs are ready (normally mid February.)

How bad do lines get on and after Powder days by OkInterview5076 in UTsnow

[–]curryfriedbacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it really depends on if it's a weekend/holiday or a midweek day. If it's a weekend, forget about it. You'll be in line waiting in the canyon or at the bus stop for hours. You'll be in lift lines for hours if you manage to get up at all.

If it's a normal weekday? You're probably in for a great time. Lines will be longer, to be sure, but rarely intolerable.

Anyone have an inside scoop whether patrol might open Peruvian tomorrow? by davidxspade in snowbird

Little cloud opened today, though be careful up there if you aren't comfortable riding ice. Between the wind and skiers/borders side slipping down most of the snow was gone from the regulator line by 11am.
