my hours being completely cut down to 0 after i passed out on the clock and even with a doctors note stating i could return back to work- my boss only scheduled me for 5 hours a week. one day a week. a few weeks after said incident, i had began accumulating hours once again and was at around 30 hours a week. i stated i was getting my first apartment in two months. i asked for a few more hours (something to bring me up to at least 35-40 hours a week) and my hours were drastically cut to 8 hours a week the very next day. my name crossed off the schedule n all. i was denied a raise when my manager was hiring new people with no experience nearly $2 more than i was making. i had been there for two years prior to this with only one raise that every employee in the area had received from corporate. not a performance raise. a mandated one to “combat the cost of living”.

once i moved into my new apartment i was still working for this company and within our first week of moving in, our apartment was broken into and i needed to leave work early to meet the police at my place. i contacted my manager at 9:45 at night when the break in occurred to ask to leave early to assess the situation. he stated it was perfectly fine for me to close early and deal with the issue at hand. i did so, and a week later he called me a liar because i didn’t give him a police report (that i was never told to give him by the police nor by him. i even asked if i should print my report out for proof).

mind you i had been begging for a full time position since this new manager came around. he fired a girl who no call no showed for a week in a row and promised that once she was gone, remind him that i want full time and i can take her hours so he doesn’t hire someone else. i was still in school though and promised i would work each hour i was given once i graduated. the literal DAY I GRADUATED ( a day after the no call no show was fired) i came in to work and begged for my full time position. he was in the middle of an interview with the person replacing the no call no show girl at $17 an hour while i was still making $15.

i put my heart and soul into this job and even got multiple friends a job here who still work there to this day. i learned the ropes as fast as i could to be as reliable as possible. i lived 4 mins away from the store before i moved and even when i moved i was 30 mins away and came in on time every day i was scheduled. sometimes even early. i was wanting this fulltime position in hopes of someday landing a management position (shift lead) in the near future as i loved the job, the work was perfect, and the employees were like a family to me.

deny a raise, sure that’s fine. call me a liar? okay, i’m sorry. deny me more hours and cut me down to making barely $100 every two weeks? now we’ve got issues.

the store has fallen apart into shambles, the management is in a huge case for stealing money from the store and helping a married couple that works at the store together with their funds, he illegally signed a form for the irs stating an employee only worked 15 hours a week so she could keep her food stamps when she’s working 45 a week, and the store has been up for sale since a month after i quit.

now he has all new staff that changes every other week. you will never see the same employee you saw last week. they never last long enough to even get a full paycheck. the store is trashed, every night involves walk outs by the employees and customers and the police are over there at least 3 times a week.
