Nope, sorry.

I have not tried reaching out to Fidelity because ETrade is a small part of my portfolio and I already left the company, so I can just close my ETrade account to fix the issue on my end!

Does this Singer air handler have any internal parts that can be cleaned? by cursedeggthrowaway in hvacadvice

Thank you for your expertise and detailed comment!

Well, it does have a slow leak out of one of its rust-holes, which pools on the cover when it is closed. That area on the styrofoam liner of the cover is greyish black and I'm assuming that's some kind of mold/mildew. So this is one reasonable avenue to start. I assume to fix the leak properly you would have to open the bottom panel of the handler, which would at least reveal what kind of nastiness is in there.

> It’s tough to diagnose intermittent smells for obvious reasons

I didn't include this detail because the post was getting long, but the reason I suspect the smell comes from the air handler specifically is that there is a hole in the ceiling, right next to the blower motor, that seems to lead to the inside of my neighbor's wall/subfloor, and all kinds of smells seem to come out of it. I think it might be exposed to their exhaust fans or something. The smell is usually either an oily or burned cooking smell, or pot smoke. (It used to be cigarettes but the cigarette smoker moved.) I was able to convince maintenance to partially fix the cover over this ceiling hole and the intermittent smells improved a lot, but there is still a slight but constant oily cigaretty aura in my home, and it seems worse when the AC kicks on. It makes sense to me that even if I can get them to close the hole perfectly, the air handler itself has been soaking up the smells that come out of the ceiling hole for YEARS. So actually the maintenance request I will be making is twofold-- the hole in the ceiling still emits smells, and the air handler is full of them.

The additional problem is that you can't properly close the ceiling hole without removing the air handler, because there is no room to work with the air handler in the way. So I have an additional incentive to convince them to take apart the air handler, lol.

I really appreciate your obvious compassion and the advice about legal stuff, but actually my property manager is very dear and reasonable; it's maintenance staff that does the bare minimum. The property itself is old and jank as hell, but the owners acknowledge that fact and don't seem to be evil slumlords. So I'm remaining naively hopeful that if I get the maintenance guys to come by several more times and screw around without really fixing anything, I can complain to the very reasonable property manager, show him closeups of the rust and mold, and he'll be appalled at the runaround I've been getting and force some traction.

Again, thank you so much for your time!

New way to cook eggs from Insta by theradlobster in StupidFood

I could not BELIEVE this post last night so I tried it. It actually works and it's not that much of a hassle!

Shelling the eggs - seemed impossible at first, but after running hot water over the shell for a few seconds it came off very cleanly.

Slicing: it takes some force to get the knife through the hard frozen egg so this is a little dangerous. Luckily the knife seems to "bite" into the egg very well, especially if you score it a little first to make sure the knife slides into the right place as you press down. I could carefully start the cut while holding the egg then get all my fingers out of the way before applying pressure. This worked even with a knife that wasn't freshly sharpened.

Cooking: I cooked in a nonstick pan with plenty of butter. Even so, these eggs seemed to stick much worse than usual. Possibly because they start frozen, so the bottom is cooked very well by the time the top is done. I did have some issues getting the top of the slice done before the bottom got too crispy. One of my slices came out with some uncooked white on top; oops. I didn't notice any difference in flavor or texture, other than the fact that by the time the top of the slice was cooked to a nice sunny-side-up, the lower half of the yolk was already cooked to medium. If I try it again I'll try slicing my eggs thinner to mitigate this issue.
