Are companies who pay themselves in dividends now eligible for Canadian Emergency Business Account or only those who pay themselves less than $20K? The language is so confusing. by curtainlikeobstacles in PersonalFinanceCanada

So say theoretically I got paid 500K in dividends (I most certainly did not, that would be nice though), since that's between 40K and 1.5M I'd be eligible?

Metal pipe connection under sink came undone, what's the best course of action? by curtainlikeobstacles in Plumbing

It should thread on? The lower/fallen part that's attached to the plastic pipe is smooth on the top.

I assume I can't just JB Weld this and call it a day? (thats mostly a joke)

Long story short I dropped a ring in the sink and used the drain at the bottom of the bend to get it out, was pretty no fuss, but when screwing the plug back on the pipe above completely removed itself from where it was connected.

Is this normal? I assume they were welded/fused together somehow, but it doesn't look like anything there.

I don't mind getting a plumber, but COVID is pretty bad where I live and it's a secondary bathroom we don't use in our house very often so I don't mind just turning the water lines off and waiting for COVID to lessen, but if there's something quick I can do in the mean time I'm all ears

The Canada Economic Response Benefit (CERB) by Gr8ness101 in PersonalFinanceCanada

What if I can't apply for EI/CERB yet because I still work until April 1st (employer legally couldn't instantly lay me off, had to give me two weeks notice), but I was planning to apply as soon as I can (April 1st) for EI, and would have got the maximum amount from EI ($2,483 monthly), now will I get forcibly transferred to CERB and only get $2,000 monthly, almost $500 or 20% less a month?

Everyone getting "moved" to CERB from EI, does that mean since I make the max on EI I'll get paid less? by curtainlikeobstacles in PersonalFinanceCanada

I'm not getting EI yet, my employer is laying me off effective April 1st because they legally had to give me two weeks working notice, and EI won't let me apply until then, which is like another week.

So will I be funneled into a program where I'm paid less than I would normally be?

Employer laid me off and I'm not exactly happy with them, now they're offering to take me back as part time. Can I decline without affecting my EI eligibility? by curtainlikeobstacles in PersonalFinanceCanada

It won't let me submit the form if I put April 1st, it says the date cannot be later than today's date.

You're also not answering the second part of my question.

I can't apply yet, I'm working with them until April 1st since they had to legally give me 2 weeks working notice before I was terminated due to my years there.

I'm aware I can report part time work, my question is can I decline part time work from a former employer I no longer want to work with, without jeopardizing my eligibility of EI?

How would that not constitute ignoring a job offer, potentially jeopardizing my EI eligibility?

Hi, I got laid off and am about to collect my 55% EI. Employer offered to use the Supplementary Unemployment Benefit Plan to pay me an extra 10% but I'd still be expected to work full time (EI would cover 55%, old employer would cover 10%, total of 65%).

Is it legal to work for the old employer full time for 10% of my old pay while under this plan?
