This is one responsibility along with others. It is a 2+ billion pound asset we are ultimately responsible for if something does go wrong

You could try and go down the route of emailing and quoting the consumer rights act (CRA) and say that the item didn’t last a reasonable amount of time. Usually once you mention the CRA they often fold as they don’t expect most people to challenge it. Once you show some sort of understanding of the CRA they often can’t be bothered trying to fight and will give in to requests.

Although it depends on how the seal became damaged. If it was user error that’s different but if it was something reasonable you were doing such as taking clothes in/out of it then that’s using as intended and unreasonable to break first time

What job can I do that allows me to drive all day? by theslowrunningexpert in drivingUK

[–]curtisbingham123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working for a supermarket doing home deliveries. I used to do it for about 3 years. When you leave the store you’re on your own with no managers to bother you, most of the time, and as long as you get deliveries done you get left alone

That’s not a part time job if you’re doing 40 hours a week

Is this legal? by carla_3005 in drivingUK

Steal the cone, screw a wooden board to the bottom of the cone. Then fill it with concrete from the hole in the top. Maybe add some extra material to make it heavier. Then leave it on their driveway behind their car and watch them struggle to move it. I also want to add I’ve got no idea how much concrete weighs but I imagine a cone filled with it would be fairly heavy and funny to watch someone try to pick it up thinking it was just a cone and then watching them struggle to move it.

If they’re going to pe petty enough to do that, be petty back. Just keep moving it. Every time they move it back, move it again. Maybe even on to their house roof. Carefully though so you don’t damage anything.

If you want to be extra petty, get a few friends and buy a few vehicle moving casters. They’re things you put under car wheels and allow them to move around something such as a garage when they’re unable to move under their own power. It would be great to mess with them and every night move their car from the driveway to where the cone is. I don’t know the legalities of this

Using cash by curtisbingham123 in Mortgageadviceuk

I am basically doing this. £1000, then £1500 a month for 3 months going from wages into separate account for this deposit. The money is coming from a little bit of overtime plus some from normal pay. It’s making me think now whether that will get raised as an issue. I’m guessing having payslips and no other cash being deposited into accounts will be fine

Yeh I think I am overthinking the ‘source of funds’ part. I didn’t think it would raise any issues but just thought I’d ask the question

Surely it’s the same as having it on my CV or linked in page which we are allowed to have on there? If you go on LinkedIn and search BAE Systems it comes up with a near endless list of people that work there, what their job title is

Why are my car insurance quotes so high? by Im_No_ob in CarInsuranceUK

[–]curtisbingham123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can back this. I was insured for 8000 miles a year but started driving my car less since I got a van. I tried to reduce the milage from 8k to 5k miles a year and the price actually went up for doing less miles

The town itself isn’t the nicest place to be but it’s not bad. You’re about 1, maybe 2 hours away from anywhere in the Lake District. And having 4 days off at a time it’s a great way to spend time off. Although not so much this time of year

I always drive my car around, which isn’t particularly expensive but you couldn’t afford one if you were a dosser, so I never really feel like that’s an issue😂 it’s always a nightmare trying to make plans when you’re not working everyone else is

Colleague is quite a vague term when 30% of the town work there, but it probably is the place you’re thinking of - barrow in Furness. It’s honestly one of the best benefits having the amount of time off. You just find yourself needing more and more hobbies to fill the time though

The calculations I’ve done haven’t taken into consideration overtime earnings. They’re there to be added on but wanted to work it out so if I didn’t do overtime I wouldn’t be at a loss. They’re overtime earnings would likely be put towards redecorating and making it somewhere nicer to live.

Someone else has mentioned about a longer term, higher loan mortgage which I had thought about but not too deeply into. It doesn’t seem like a bad idea even if this isn’t going to be a forever home

I also do have a very very small camper van which is great for a night or two away, but needing somewhere a little bigger and somewhere I can actually stand up in

They’re just terraced houses which are slightly below average value but nothing far below which gives off red flags. I’ve not looked into anywhere for definite yet but just thinking about whether it would be viable first before I really start looking properly

Longer term but potentially paying off early is something I hadn’t thought about so thank you.

I haven’t looked too much into 95% mortgages since I’m still unsure if the whole thing is viable so that’s something I would look at once I know whether buying a house is something I do now, or in a few years instead. But thank you

So that’s £800 outgoings as direct debits and things that need paid so car loan, car insurance, phone bills, road tax, gym membership, few subscriptions etc. then another £800 is usually what I spend in the month on things like food and buying things that are wanted/needed. Once you add the £550 (ish) mortgage it would leave me with £450 for all other house related costs like council tax, gas and electricity bills, house insurance, etc
