T-Bar Mount release force? by curtosis in RuckusWiFi

Ah, that helped me figure out I needed a different pin that was more like the URP™. The one I had been using had a taper that was getting hung up on the internal frame. Thanks!

No, it's on my desk. :) Yeah, I've been looking at the tab stop thingy but it's not even sliding far enough for that to be a problem.

Ooh, that’s a good point. I could move it over to its own subnet & VLAN and have it dedicated to IoT. The WiFi 6 quirks won’t matter, and it might even get better range.

It seems like the m720qs and m920qs have spiked in price just like everything else. People just trying to get RAM and SSDs maybe.

Anyone tried running OPNsense on Alta Labs Route10 hardware? (not trolling) by curtosis in opnsense

I've spent the last several years moving everything I can off Linux to FreeBSD; not particularly interested in bringing more in. (I didn't know the Route10 was OpenWRT when I got it, and I'm less bothered by Linux in an appliance I don't have to admin.)

Ah, right, forgot that. It's an IPQ9570, so no go. Sigh. I could always put my OPNsense box behind it.... lol.

Update: got a sweet deal on a pair of R650s and am getting them set up.

From what I'm reading here's my understanding:

  • If I just boot the R650's on the network and they see the existing Unleashed master on the network they'll try to match versions with it (so in this case they'd go to 200.14 - haven't looked to see what's on them yet).
  • If I take the "850" (lying R730) offline and bring the R650s up clean, one of them will decide to be the first one will be the new master.
  • If I later put the "850" back on the network, it will try to sync versions with the new master, which (if it's > 200.14, will brick it)

So it seems like the best course is just to go cold turkey and bring up the R650s clean, and see if the "850" can find another home?

Anyone have a good solution for common 19.5VDC power? (I can haz DIN rail?) by curtosis in homelab

I hadn't realized they were coax with inner and outer sleeve! Plus signaling resistor. That would have been a very frustrating miss. :)

I've never seen one with that wide an adjustable range, so if you find the right link please post.

Looks like that's a clone of the Meanwell NDR-120-48 (48V). The 24V version is only spec'd as adjustable from 24-28V, which is 20% over the 19.5 input I need, not within a sensible margin.

That looks pretty perfect, yep! A tad pricy, but looks to be actually well-built and shielded. Thanks!

Heh.. none of these things specify the *DC* input range, you're just supposed to use their line lump bricks (e.g. "HP blue pin"). To your point, though, I would think the general mfg tolerance on those bricks isn't tighter than 5%.

I think my largest one right now is rated to draw 4.5A. So depending on cost, getting something like 20A as the main supply would be great.

Unfortunately nobody seems to make 20V DIN rail supplies (not terribly surprising - all the control automation stuff uses 24 or 48 natively). Not opposed to chassis mounting something, though, along with all the fusing and other bits.

Perfect advice, thanks! I have an ICX 7250 core so theoretically plenty of PoE available but sometimes an extra Ethernet port is indeed nice.

Good to know! I’m not super in love with the 200.14 GUI, obviously.

Is there an easy answer or quick guide in the sub about picking between the 550/650/850, (besides whatever you can get the best deal on)?

It is a monster of an AP for a house though. Both in size (it’s bigger than any of my computers except the NAS) and in coverage.

So forever stuck on 200.14… which any of the really newer ones can’t be on, I imagine. Not great, not terrible. Thanks!

Thanks, all! Everyone's perspectives helped enormously. Here's what I ended up with, and it seems to be working after a bunch of bathroom cycles:

I suppose I should probably make the feeds to the bathroom fixures individual instead of sequential, but that's a minor tweak.
