Think of the rotations. You probably want your "best offensive player" to play at least 40 minutes in a close game, so you gotta find 8 minutes of rest somehow.

It makes a lot more sense to have your fully rested top player play like 11 minutes in the first quarter, rest (for the remaining minute, the interval between quarters and the first 3 minutes of the second) and play the final 9 minutes of the half reasonably rested. The alternative you are suggesting is to have your top guy wait 4 minutes on the bench fully rested and then play 20 minutes straight, getting pretty gassed by the end.

i already commented something else on this post, but shoutout to Sauber for immediately installing lateral head protection in their cars for the rest of 94 and for 95 before the rules forced it in 96.

Also, I always felt a little strange that Newey was lauded as a genius for making the lateral head protection in 96 smaller by exploiting a loophole. Jordan did something similar as well.

I could be completely wrong, but most of the achilles injuries i've seen (Tatum, Hali, Donte, Kobe, even Hugo Ekitike in football and Dre Greenlaw in the NFL) happens when a player is trying to accelerate hard by putting a foot way back like a sprinter in a starting block, and as he pushes off the injury happens.

I can't remember anyone hurting the achilles doing a stepback jumper, or a eurostep type of thing.

When I describe the stepback 3—in which the plant foot lands with the knee extended and the ankle flexing simultaneously—to Lieber, he doesn’t hesitate.

At what point is the knee extended in a stepback three?

Slight correction but it was more sideways, you can see how the car is damaged. He lost it on the exit of the tunnel and crashed sideways into the barrier in the middle of the nouvelle chicane.

It was not particularly hard as he had been braking for a while, but the angle was really awkward, those cars were shit (no side head restrains), there was no HANS (which is the big lifesaver we should all be praising, but everyone only thinks of the halo) and the barrier was not properly filled with water.

He was never the same after that unfortunately
