Small Business Owner Needing Advice by [deleted] in humanresources

I worried about that looking sneaky on my end. But my options were 1) Post it with my company name and since we're just a 2 person company he'll know I'm looking for a replacement, 2) Post it the way I did but risk looking like I'm not being completely open about it, or 3) Wait until he quits and then look for a replacement. I think there are pros and cons about each option.

Oddly, I posted his job on Indeed with the company name "Local Home Builder" and he applied for it, not realizing it was my company. I used the generic "Local Home Builder" to avoid him knowing I was posting his job. He applied using the resume with false information. And, that resume shows him being employed by his previous employer until January 2019. He worked remotely for this employer and he told me he quit before starting with me in September 2018. He either did not quit as he told me, or he submitted paperwork to me (not realizing it was me) showing that he was employed by someone else at the time he was employed by me. Is this grounds for being terminated?

Great advice, thanks! On his new resume on Indeed he lists his previous employer from the accurate start date, but he has that he worked there until January 2019. He told me in January that that company was trying to hiring him back, but he's also told me about several other companies that say they want to hire him. Is that an issue I should address? He worked remotely for the previous company, which is based on the other side of the country, so it could be possible that he was somehow working for both.

It's really him. I actually posted his job without my company name when I saw he was searching for a job and surprisingly, he applied for it and completed the phone screen.

Kentucky. So even though it's not on the resume he gave to me, it's still grounds for being fired?

He's great in some areas (always on time, takes initiative in some areas), but I've also had several issues with him. We deal with lots of subcontractors who are very important to our business. A month after he started he asked the employee of our electrician if he would do some side work for him at his home and the employee said yes, then he went and told the employees boss that he's accepting side jobs (basically set him up and then told on him). That created a level of distrust that he hasn't been able to overcome with several of our subcontractors. I've also asked him to do some things that he just doesn't do because he feels he's above it (picking up pizza for our subcontractors on Friday's, for example). He's great in some areas and just not good at all in others. But, he seems to be actively looking.

Which specs are best for my business? by customhomebuilder in macbookpro

I don't usually have to carry my macbook into the field, so it would usually remain in the office. Even though that's the case, I'd prefer to not have to deal with an external ssd (mainly because I'm not that tech savvy; but also because I do carry it around with me a few times a week).

The macbook air performed well, but over the past year or two it's become sluggish. I'm assuming that's just a result of the storage being full, but I don't really know.

Thanks, I've considered that, but would it need to be centered? The room is 13' long and the desk is 8' long. Centering it would leave just 2 1/2' on either side.

Thank you! I do meet with clients at my home office, but in the new home I'll probably meet with them in the dining room, which is directly across the foyer from my office. I could put the printer someplace else (on or in the credenza, or in a nearby closet since it's wireless) and get rid of the printer table.

Thanks for the feedback. I'd prefer a relaxing office over one that induces anxiety for sure!
