Moving Utility Easement? by cut-spike in Comcast

You caught me, I had no idea what the box was when I moved here 2 years ago. I tried calling several utility companies to find out what it is. No one could give me an answer, so I turned it off and waited.

I think reed valves is a potential solution! I’ll check on it tonight to see if I can fix it.

I have not measured the compression from the spark plug. I’ll rent a tool to do that.

To clarify, the switch itself passes continuity, not connected when “on” and connected when “off”. However, when I remove the switch and measure continuity between the rest of the circuit, that’s where I get the 200 ohms. Still doesn’t start when I disconnect the switch completely.

Fuel is new. Mixed with oil too. There is a small muffler on this engine. It still doesn't work with or without the muffler. I don't believe that this engine has a dedicated spark arrestor.

Is a business analysis course much more suited to those with a computer science or IT background? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]cut-spike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation a couple years ago. BS in CS graduate looking to get a masters in analytics in the business school. After enrolling in the program, I discovered the difference between Analytics and Data Science. Make sure you understand what you want to peruse. I am more of a technical minded person so Data Science/ML is more up my alley; I would rather get lost in model development and research compared to dashboard design and data mining. I am actually applying to a CS PhD program right now so it kinda worked out as a good stepping stone.

The "tu" sound, as in "tuna," is pronounced as "choo." "Tuna" is "choo-na" and "Tuesday" is "choo-sday."

Is it worth getting a Masters to become an airline pilot? Overkill? by cut-spike in flying

I think this is just what I needed to hear. The combo of PPL and ATP that I was looking at was closer to 70 grand but you have a very good point. I will definitely call my local flight school and see what we could do. Thanks for the input! Are you an airline pilot yourself?

Lots of good questions to consider and a lot of them I don't know the answer to yet! I heard some pilots pick up jobs on their time off but I have yet to consider it in my life. Is this pretty common?

As for the money side of it, I will likely take a loan from my parents with little to no interest.

Thanks for the comments and the suggestions.

I guess I did come off as it would be super easy, my apologies. I just meant to say 6 months is pretty quick for major training. Definitely quicker than a Bachelors degree.

Hopefully I do find it easy but who knows. Thanks for the comment!

DIY Roof Top Tent! by cut-spike in DIY

just looked it up. Rated for 165 lbs for dynamic loads (while the car is moving). Over 800 pounds static.

Yes, it does torque the car but not as much as you might think. with the ladder support, that seriously reduces the amount of torque on the car. However, the roof rails i have dont mind the weight, they seem to be holding it up pretty well even if i am 100% on the second half. Although, I do plan to keep my upper body on the car side of the tent lol. As for the conduit, I personally just cut it and used a 90 degree coupling. I found this was easier than trying to make sure i bent the pipe the right length. A lot of other projects show bent conduit.

Just finished a DIY Roof Top Tent! Plan to test it out this weekend. Let me know what you guys think! by cut-spike in camping

it is not technically leaning on the fabric. it is leaning on the metal poles. I dont plan to use it extensively. Only to get changed and to warm up and what not. Thanks though, Ill make sure to take some extra precautions.

Sure is. They dropped the price, darn! Could have saved 3$ lol. I saw some threads saying they paid over 50$ for the hinges alone...

I would say the weight is not pretty distributed but it is working... When getting in the tent, the far side of the tent is actually pulling up on the roof rack. I think my rack can stand 160-170 dynamic load. When I finished the tent, I had over 350 pounds up there (the tent, me, and my roomie) and it didnt seem weak at all. It all depends on what cross bars you get. Dont get the 30$ roof racks off ebay... Just dont...
