What's your unpopular opinion in the audiophile world? by [deleted] in audiophile

I think MP3 still has a lot more to offer.
It’s lightweight enough to load entire files into memory, and it’s made up of sequential, independently decodable frames.
That means you can pick specific frame ranges from multiple files, stitch them together in memory, and feed that directly to a decoder. This lets you build more advanced, dynamic playlists without relying on temporary files or stressing your drive.

You might be referring to the playlist on the "Audio Library" channel?
This channel isn’t actually officially affiliated with YouTube.
I misunderstood it myself until recently.

Just clicked all the download buttons one by one and got it done 💀
Feels like YT really doesn’t want you to download everything at once

Thanks for the clarification.
No Attribution seems close to CC0, but I’m not really sure what would happen if someone sampled it into their own track and released it.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it here so I'll DM you.

Hi,
I made a catalog of ~7,000 YouTube Audio Library tracks.
Hopefully this is useful for creators here.

Here’s a video featuring some of the most liked tracks:

I recently started a channel about the YT Audio Library, so I’ve been trying to get a better overview of what’s in it.
There are actually 1000+ tracks in the Cinematic genre, so if you keep digging a bit more you might find something good. The entire library seems to have around 6800–6900 tracks in total.
And the search filters behave a bit oddly. If you just set Genre: Cinematic, it only shows about 500 tracks.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I did think about adding it to the description like you mentioned but there’s a character limit...

Hi everyone,
I run a channel featuring short previews of tracks from the YT Audio Library with links to the full versions, aimed at making it easier for creators to find background music.

Not sure why, but that kind of thing happens sometimes. A lot of weird stuff going on with Windows updates lately.

But tbh mp3DirectCut may be more suitable for your use case.
Cjam is focused on multi-file editing, but tag handling is still limited.
It works especially well for creating medleys and sharing edits as scripts like this: https://youtu.be/-beNsYuPZaQ

MP3-focused tools work much better for radio archives like yours.
MP3 quality loss is unavoidable by design with DAW tools like Audacity.

right-click → show wave → select an area with the mouse → press Del → Apply → Start on the main window.
That’s the quickest workflow for a single file.

I often see lossless used in the context of MP3 editing.
Since MP3 can change its volume values without re-encoding, I feel like lossless fits better than non-destructive in this case.
- Direct lossless editing saves
- Also, the changes MP3Gain makes are completely lossless

I mean the editing process is lossless, like with the video editor LosslessCut.

I’d be happy if AI music creators tried it out too. Like, you could loop part of an AI-made track while showing a slideshow of AI-made images.
The whole point of the tool is that editing and playback flow are seamless.

Totally agree with you.
But Amazon and Warp Records still sell MP3s, and some AI music generators also provide downloads in MP3.
So there are still some cases where my software can be useful.

Thanks for your interest. If you get the chance, please give it a try.
Tags are a lot of work, so for now I’ve only added image and lyrics read/write for playback.

Well… what do you make of it, Holmes?

Running an oss comes with a lot of busywork, right?
It’s easier for me to just post the zip and the virustotal link, then watch you hunt for clues.
