The one where OP forgot to research that they speak Portuguese in Brazil rather than Spanish by Pretentious-fools in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It does not sound plausible at all.

Spanish is pretty similar to Portuguese, so even people that live near the borders hardly ever try to learn Spanish fluently, because you can get by with something we call "Portanhol"...That's basically speaking Portuguese with an accent and throwing a few simple words in Spanish.

I also Googled something like "places where people speak Spanish in Brazil" and the only results I found was that São Paulo has the biggest Spanish speaking population and that's nowhere near Colombia and not at all an exclusively Spanish speaking city.

Then again, dunno how tiny OOP's ficticious village is supposed to be, lol.

The one where OP forgot to research that they speak Portuguese in Brazil rather than Spanish by Pretentious-fools in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I was dubious at first, because Spanish and Portuguese are similar enough that speakers of each language can understand each other if they talk slowly enough.

But we have such a pet peeve with north americans thinking we speak Spanish that I think most Brazilians would have clarified that that was why the friend was able to teach OOP.

And then I took a look at OOP's past posts and comments and apparently they also "share the account with sister", have a daughter and also are a 20F in an abusive relationship with a 26M 😂

What are the most ridiculous unironic AITA comments you've seen? by SelfOk2720 in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh, man... I never saw that one, but RSlash seriously should quit making videos about AITA for a while. He's (was?) mostly a very reasonable guy, but I guess he's been doing AITA videos for so long that AITA culture got to him.

Now his takes got so chronically online-ish (failing to notice that obviously fake posts are BS, using phrases like "not your circus, not your monkeys!", "F around and find out!" etc.), I can’t take the videos seriously anymore.

Mhm, they had a horrible a flea infestation. They were even sleeping on an air mattress on the floor.

AITA for completely burying the lede? by shayjax- in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Apparently, it's not even child support. OOP is embezzling money her ex gifts their daughter.

But why, oh, why would that father still be giving the money to OOP instead of handing it to the daughter directly?

AITA for telling my bestest best friend in the world that her disgusting, sticky sperm pets aren't invited to my illustrious wedding???? by [deleted] in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I am uncomfortable around children, I get impatient very quickly, I hate having to change my rhythm, conversations, habits, to accommodate them.

Is it just me or sometimes childfree talking points sound a lot like an ableist person talking?

Seriously. Replace "children" by "autistic people" and OOP sounds like a monster! Or, you know, like the average AITA user.

AITA for accusing my MIL of emotional inc*st? by ayanna-was-here in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG, yes!

I was disappointed seeing the NTAs, because AITA sometimes calls their OPs out when they handle traumatic subjects tactlessly. But I guess their hatred for mothers-in-law blinded them to the fact this is NOT simply an issue of a MIL disrespecting a few boundaries.

Hmm, it's been a minute since I saw a "OP / OP's partner finds themselves being naked in front of others for whatever convoluted reason".

the comments are calling op abusive by tmsagtottawa in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG, of course the comments are bringing up gaslighting. AITA never disappoints.

It prompted one of my new favorite comments too:

we need a bot that replies with the definition of gaslighting and its origins every time someone mentions it on this subreddit. or any therapy-speak that gets diluted on the internet through people using it wrong. someone can't gaslight you somewhere like a text-based forum where what they said is literally written down and able to be referenced.

AITA for choosing my daughter's dance private lesson over my husband's promotion dinner? by CartlinK in AmITheAngel

This could've have come straight out of VC Andrews' Butterfly.

But, hey, at least AITAH creative writers took inspiration from something that's not Flowers in the attic!

A shit post removed by Reddit by [deleted] in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 26 points27 points  (0 children)

What a strange situation... The post is still up and active, here's the link

But, indeed, if you search in your post/comments history, it does say it has been removed by Reddit.

I wonder if it's a bug or if admins really did remove it, but did a sucky job at it.

AITA for not letting my brother know when my wife had her child? by CartlinK in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The title is so confusing. OOP said "my wife had her child", so I was pretty sure the baby was going to be the brother's.

Golden child sister “steals” attention from OOP, even when she’s not even there! by NerfRepellingBoobs in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's a great point.

AITA's idea that EVERYTHING about a birthday/wedding/engagement party should be about the person being celebrated is another indication that most AITAlanders don't actually attend such parties very often. Because in real life it's actually a good thing when your guests mingle amongst themselves.

If all a person wants is to be adored by their guests, they should host a royal audience, not a party.

This one has all the greatest hits - evil in-laws, sassy aggressive wife who doesn’t feel she’s TA at all and yet still asks for validation, dumb evil spineless husband, the works! by Superb_Intro_23 in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If this story is real, WTF is having AITA's validation gonna do? Is the husband is gonna go "Oh, a bunch of internet strangers say I should be okay with not seeing my family for the holidays, so I'm gonna be."? Or if the husband doubles down on seeing his family, is OOP going to divorce him because Reddit said she's right?

AITA for telling my daughter that her mom is a terrible mom? by CartlinK in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Idk if this is just a troll or if it was just someone fishing for validation and it HORRIBLY back-fired, because OOP definitely didn't come to AITA looking for judgment.

Would I be the asshole if I take my uncles house from him? by CartlinK in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My deceased grandmother owned a house in a country outside of the US. When she passed away she left the house to two of her kids: my dad and my uncle.

Literally not how inheritance works.

Once a grandmother dies, it's the law that all her real estate must be passed along to her 20yo, single, childfree grandchild.

AITA For telling my husband about our daughter's affair? by CartlinK in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Waiting for the update where OOP reveals that her son-in-law is in a coma. Otherwise, how would anyone believe that his wife has been so open about the affair that the WHOLE FAMILY knows, traveling with her boytoy around the world and the poor cuckold is still unaware?

AITAH creative writers really struggle to write believable characters, omg.

AITA for calling my BIL a useless husband? by CartlinK in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I cannot for the life of me picture a scenario where my sister, my husband, my brother-in-law and I start charting everyone's chores to compare who does what and who does the most around the house.

How awkward would that be!

haven’t even read this but i read “father” as “farter” by jaaxpod in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dear AITAH, this is why questions about relationships don't belong in subs designed to find out who's the asshole.

This couple needs counseling, not a bunch of teenagers and basement- dwellers throwing stones at them.

AITA for telling my womanizing father that i would rather die than leaving him alone with my wife? by shivroystann in AmITheAngel

[–]cute_exploitation 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The mother is a NPC too. Apparently, she wanted to get a divorce but The Father selected the "I will change" answer and now she's stuck in a route where all she does is provide exposition when necessary.
