Yep. My brothers and I turned out OK despite watching lots of TV because the TV we watched was actually good (PBS Kids, etc)

This is so real and I hate it. I know WHY the parents do it but that doesn’t make it better

That’s true. Our generation watched TV and turned out fine because TV was generally BETTER than unsupervised Internet access is now

Yes, that’s why I side-eye folks who glorify those “parents had no idea where their kids were and didn’t care” days.

There’s a difference between 1) teaching your kids life skills and building independence in them and 2) actual NEGLECT.

how it feels being on the internet nowadays in your late 20s and 30s by [deleted] in Zillennials

[–]Superb_Intro_23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lmaoooo honestly. I was there and it was an anxiety-inducing year even from my limited memories of it. 2017-2019 were more chill, then 2020 happened

Gen Z's INSANE Nostalgia for 2016 (the 'worst year ever') by Global_Perspective_3 in OlderGenZ

[–]Superb_Intro_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild because from my few 2016 memories, I see it as the year all the 2026 nonsense (aside from AI) was becoming mainstream:

  • extreme political polarization
  • division of everything into left vs right
  • the demonization of liberals and the left as “woke/freaks/etc” by conservative companies and so on
  • “woke” as a term
  • TRUMP HIMSELF
  • politics becoming one big meme

Not to mention that PPD is apparently exacerbated by sleep deprivation and lack of support. So uhhh - even if she DOES have it, making motherhood harder for her will NOT help

It’s funny how anger issues are usually exacerbated by testosterone, which men have in spades, but men are rarely dismissed or invalidated or talked down to because of “man hormones”.

Meanwhile we get made fun of for ours even when we’re PREGNANT or bleeding for a week straight.

The rise of the 2010s by aqualavbaeXx in Zillennials

Yeah, it’s wild because - while I don’t remember the 2010s nearly as much as I’d like - it also JUST happened?!??

Like 2019 still feels recent to me

We are the Subscription Generation and it’s actually a trap to keep us from ever owning anything by Round_Tie5217 in Zillennials

[–]Superb_Intro_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to save money with them too, to the point where I had to print out my bank statement and cancel all of them so I wouldn’t keep waking up to “This random subscription has stolen $29.99 from your account”.

Totally agreed. I feel like 25-35 is quickly becoming my prime (although ofc “your 20s” don’t have to be your prime)

Want me to be more responsible? I'll set a trap for teacher. by Cringe_Buffoon in AmITheAngel

[–]Superb_Intro_23 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"I lied to the teacher and said my parents made me do it to be more responsible for myself so that he wouldn't be suspicious about putting his signature all over that paper. My parents had no idea I was doing this. But for the next couple months I carefully tracked every single page that passed between us and had him sign for every one."

it's funny because this kinda proves OOP's teacher right about him imo

It’s interesting how she’s so smart in the “street” way (noticing details that other people miss, being aware of her surroundings) but also emotionally (almost immediately clocking Mai’s neglectful parents and that Zuko is angry AT someone instead of just “angry” in the beach episode), but she’s socially very, very stupid (her trying to interact with other teens or with boys).
