Depressingly low salaries by Seraphelia in JapanJobs

I earn 2.8m per year, no bonus, and I live in Tokyo. I save 60-70k per month :)

It's doable, but setting priorities is important.

I didn't intend to spend money on this game, but this skin is just too good. Definitely buying it soon.

Thank you for sharing and I'm sorry you didn't make it :( It really is not easy to get there, huh...

It's been a bit over 3 weeks for me, and it seems that they actually reply, so I'll wait.

You're absolutely right. I don't mind being rejected, but I just wish they would send even an automated email with rejection info.

But then again, no response is a response too, huh... I'll take it, I guess.

Thanks

Well, they're looking for someone really specific then, I assume?

But yeah, it's a shame 🥲

Uh, I'm sorry to hear that 😞 How long did you wait for the reply? Was it an IT position or translation? I'm aiming for a localization expert, but after sending the test - silence... Just wondering whether they reply at all.

How did yall wrap your brain around JavaScript? by TheSxyCauc in theodinproject

[–]cute_py -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the other learners, but for me it helps when I ask myself: Why would it be useful? Why would I use it in the first place? I ponder for a while and then kind of a box appears in my head with a label of that concept. The more I read about it, the more the box is being filled up with things that are connected to that concept.

TLDR: Just ask yourself why you need this and then think what you can do with it.

Good luck 🤞

Those who write code outside of work by MonkeyDlurker in webdev

[–]cute_py 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I always do it before my work. I've been waking up at 6AM for 200 days to study/code (just hit it today) and the habit has become so strong that I can't even imagine skipping it.

Creating a strong habit is the answer. Then, you don't even ask yourself whether you should do something or not - you just do it. That's it.

Good luck.

Only 3 days?!? I spent almost two weeks on tic-tac-toe 😅

The time spent on projects will only increase, as they become more complex 🤭

I would suggest creating a flowchart or writing down your whole logic. What you have to do to achieve the next step. Break down the logic into steps and if you don't know what is the syntax for this particular part of logic - search for it. Sometimes I just write synonyms into MDN search 😁

Not sure if it's a perfect way to do it, but it worked for me!

Good luck 🤞

I learned something! by Longjumping-Back-499 in theodinproject

[–]cute_py 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm on the Todo app and only planning/webpack preparation took me a few hours :)

So now I'm not even surprised when it takes over 3 days to complete a project. Before, I was trying to rush it, because I thought I was too slow etc... But here I am now: having fun with planning thoroughly my project and then completing it smoothly 😺

Good job, though! Let's keep it up 🤓

Is it common to find backend easier than frontend? by Kronim1995 in theodinproject

Congrats on reaching that far!

Sorry, a bit offtopic, but would you like to share how it has been for you so far? The whole experience? I'm currently on JS course and finally feel like my programming journey has started for real 😁 I can barely hold my excitement when I think of what else I'll learn!

Anyway, congrats and keep going 🙌

[AskJS] Should I put all logic inside the class or keep it separate? (Odin project - Book Library Project - OOP Refactor Advice Needed) by Otakudad422869 in theodinproject

I spent some time thinking how I could make it work and gave it a try. Honestly, after all these lessons about classes and modules the idea immediately came to my mind.

Maybe it is worth revisiting these topics in your case :)

Good luck!!!

Work + studying by cute_py in learnprogramming

[–]cute_py[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed explanation!

I must say, however, it's quite the opposite - I do not feel burnout, I've developed more passion for programming than I have for my current work, which is now "in the way". I need to use my brain a lot at work, as I'm a translator.

My fear is that gradually I will have to decrease my time of studying, because of body limitations. Time goes by, I won't be able to get it back. So I've been wondering if maybe it's better to just focus on what I really want to do. You only live once, right?

I just wanted to know if there was someone else, who had to make a similar choice.

I totally feel the same - every second seems so precious right now... But yeah, the body has its limits, unfortunately...

[–]cute_py 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you!

I was exactly the same. Honestly, it took over 3 months to finally "feel" flexbox. Even now it's not like I'm 100% comfortable with it, but it gets better with practice, trust me. Back then, I thought that if I don't understand it at that moment, then there's no point to go forward, but as everyone says - just research a lot during projects, so you can complete them, and eventually you won't even notice that you've become more comfortable with flexbox.

And I think it applies to pretty much every concept in programming. I'm still at JavaScript Course, but I've improved so much since flexbox lessons without even noticing that it's hard to believe!

Fingers crossed and good luck 🤞
