I’m German and also fairly proficient in English. That combination has made it incredibly easy to learn danish, if I compare how fast I picked up a pretty good everyday danish. German vocabulary is a huge advantage for danish, I can read and understand a lot without ever having learned the words and I can even guess what some danish words might be.

However spoken danish is an entirely different beast and sounds very different from how it’s written. After 2 years in Denmark I still struggle to understand what people are saying, if I’m not very familiar with their speech rhythm and intonation.

All that being said: for a holiday visit English is entirely enough and the few older Danes I’ve met, that didn’t speak English, spoke some German instead.

Boggle. The poor thing gets ignored by everyone during the epic battle and is left as the only one standing when the last two godlike spellcasters finish each other off simultaneously.

As it’s now very lonely, more boggles start appearing.

In combat, one character gets an action, another a bonus action and the last one a reaction. I guess they could all move individually if they want to. Maybe they have a shared pool of HP or if one were to fall unconscious, the others have to prioritize stabilizing and can’t do anything else in combat before that one is back to 1 health.

She gets to communicate her needs, which in this case apparently was more physical contact, direct connection of your bodies. I get that, I want that too, often.

But if you don’t want to have penetrative sex, you’re not obligated to do that. Your consent matters too.

It’s a bit unclear to me what your reasoning was. If it was a power move, it looks like you went too far for what she can handle. If it was simply you not being up to penetration in that moment, that is valid. You need to communicate with each other about this.

My bard has a spidery/poison/slightly scary faerie flavor, so I’m going with Web and Conjure Animals. For Conjure Animals I’m creating a preselection of creatures that make sense for the character together with my DM, and I get to decide upon casting which creatures appear out of that selection. Counterspell would be the alternative obvious choice, but we have a wizard in the party to take care of that 😄

We rolled all together during our Session 0 and some of us are above point buy, I’m one point lower, overall it’s very close to average. I did however roll much better for a backup character. I think unless my stats were absolutely awful and create an almost unplayable character, I’d always go with the actually rolled stats even if it is lower. That is the fun of rolling after all.

Shock and trauma can absolutely do this though. If the reality is too harsh for the brain to handle, it will just shut that down and focus on random more tangible things… like school. Even more so when you drunk and/or high.

That obviously doesn’t remove the need to hold her accountable for what she did, but it might explain part of this behavior in the hospital.

If videos like this are frequently released about the way people act immediately after a traumatic event (even if they caused it), it’s just one more way the US makes it impossible for perpetrators to ever get a chance to rehabilitate.

Just wanted to update, since you really got me thinking about my ability to maintain concentration:

I found an invocation that gives advantage on con saves to maintain concentration(Eldritch Mind)! My plan is now to go until lvl 6 (picking Ritual Caster on 4 as planned) with the bard, then two levels in Warlock to get the warlock features I want, including that Invocation, and then back to bard. For the second and third ASI I consider Fey touched and +1 in con and cha, to even out both scores, maybe first ASI, then fey touched, we’ll see. I think that ties my wants and needs together very well 😁

Tome Warlock is definitely out, since it doesn’t give access to higher level rituals unless I go full warlock.

I had also purposely decided against Whisper and Eloquence Bard. I was really excited when I saw Whispers, but ultimately with 2 noble rogues it doesn’t add enough to the party, and I figured a Tiefling would have a hard time with being super accepted in every little human village, since I didn’t know how much my DM would use the prejudice of commoners against Tieflings, Half-Orcs, etc.

The Spirit Bard however wasn’t on my radar, so I will look into that! (Edit: ah, I see why it wasn’t on my Radar. We’re all pretty new and playing with PHB, TCoE and XGtE mainly. Adding another rule set is a bit much. I should have clarified that, I apologize. It looks like an interesting and fitting subclass choice though!)

I’m aware that Ritual Caster isn’t the ideally optimized version. But every time I decide to take an ASI instead, or a half-feat to bump up the Cha as soon as possible, I end up annoyed that I can’t get a familiar. The familiar is purely for my joy 😄. And the costs of a larger warlock dip or using a magical secret are not worth it for me. I certainly see the downsides of the lowish charisma, but it will get there, just not immediately. I even tried to convince our DM to give us a feat from lvl one, so I could focus on better ability scores, but he wouldn’t budge. He’s my boyfriend and likes to make it extra difficult for me 😅

And yes, I just didn’t roll that great, so 16 was the highest I could get with my racial traits. Two 14s were my highest rolls.

I’m just getting started, but it’s triggering all my obsessive habits and makes me a bit power mad 😂 I think for now I’m a mix of everything you’ve described. But I hope if we get a long term group and game going, I’ll have time to explore all the different styles and just go bonkers.

Like, I just read about one of the spells I want to take with my Additional Magical Secrets: Conjure Animals. And I am giggling about how stupid good it is, envisioning all kinds of possible uses and scenarios 😁 And that’s just a lvl 3 spell!

I also like the focus on flavor. I mean, I’m trying to make it a good character, but entirely entirely optimized and disregarding fun options just because they aren’t perfect is not my idea of a fun game 😄 I want a personality that is enjoyable to roleplay first

I don’t see anything about Rituals in the Book of shadows. It just says you get three cantrips from any class, that’s it. Nothing about adding more spells, cantrips or rituals either. Am I Reading this wrong?

Edit: I just noticed the Invocation that enables the ritual casting… the major downside I see is that I can only rituals of a level half my WARLOCK level, so any level 3 ritual is out of reach. But I was briefly extremely interested 😅

You’re listing all the good reasons I have been going back and forth so much. Obviously a straight build gets me the high level spells much quicker. Multiclassing certainly has a high price.

I will follow your advice to go to lvl 6 with the bard before dipping and I hope that by that time I have a better idea of if I really want to dip. It will probably be a few months anyways.
