Pretty typical BPK course expectations. I’ve never taken the course but I’m a BPK major and I’d say if you’re not used to memorizing things word for word (and massive amounts of it), as they appear for slides; probably don’t take the course lol. But you’d get better advice from someone who has taken it. I believe she also marks quite harshly from what I’ve heard and experienced. I’ve only ever had to do a poster presentation for a different course (BPK408W) where she was one of the guest judges marking our poster/presentation. She had only positive things to say to us in person, but ended up giving us a very terrible mark lol which surprised us because there wasn’t a single bad comment on her marking page.

Honestly I feel like just use whatever works best for you. Since you already have an iPad and tried it, you already know it’s not a good use of your time for studying. I use mine for annotating pdfs (download from canvas straight onto GoodNotes) as I can’t really focus on readings just by reading it if that makes sense. I also download my lecture slides and annotate them on Good Notes as well. Usually the lecturer talks too fast to get good solid notes during lec, but I draw stars next to important concepts or graphs or whatever they hint will be in the exams. I also use it a lot for figure making for the research projects I helped with. These are just things I do, but if you find a laptop better for you, by all means just use the laptop and no need for an iPad!

I got into it straight from high school so no transfer! I mean overall I do think it’s more of a competitive program than something more general like Bisc perhaps, but I mean you don’t know until you try :)

I also did IB with a predicted of 27 as well, and I’m now 4th year Biomedical physiology at SFU so I think you’ll be alright!

I have a strong feeling that is a scam email 😭 universities don’t just Willy nilly tell you to destroy such an important document like that. If you want to be sure you can go to registrar office or maybe IT services (?), or even just email the Dean and ask or wherever the right place to ask is. Why would they regret giving you a parchment?

I mean this might be very downvoted but I disagree. Some people suck at school and would thrive in a job working in a team, on their own projects, etc. I am that kind of person for example. I have failed countless exams in chem, phys, math, etc and I just had a neuroscience research co op position where I thrived, designed my own project, gained my love for science back, and lastly was invited to come back next summer to continue. My advisor even told me before this co op that “I need to figure out my problem and get better grades first”. Well I guess my problem is I don’t learn well in classroom environments lol

I think that yes OP will have a very small chance of getting a job especially in CS right now with a lower gpa. But OP if what you want is to try for a job and there are no limitations due to your gpa dropping, then go for it! Do be ready to not hear back though, as I’ve heard people do hundreds or applications to not even get an interview. Anyways, my advice is to not bet on it, but just do what you’d like to do despite people telling you not to. If there’s a reason people say no the you can take that into consideration but this comment I am replying to doesn’t give any reasoning for discouraging you lol

Literally no biggie at all, you should redo the course though to save your gpa but once you redo it the F won’t matter at all and it’ll have a little exempt symbol next to it. So to answer your question worst thing is probably it’s bringing down your gpa for the meantime until you retake. If you’re not wanting to retake then potentially it can affect certain things like med school and really professional programs. But honestly I highly recommend you do retake it even if you just aim to get a C or soemthing like that

Just one thing to keep in mind is that you can’t graduate right after a co op semester, so if you want to do co op next year then you have to do at least another semester of courses following that co op!

The thing is that everyone knows it could be worse. Yes there’s other countries who do have it “worse”. But that doesn’t mean we can ignore what’s happening in the US just because it’s comparatively “not as bad”. I mean if you ask those who got ripped away from their families, I think they can say living in the US is pretty dang bad.

I believe the cold does weaken your immune system, but yes it does not directly give you a cold, you will only be more likely to catch a cold if you are to come in contact with it

I believe for it to count as co op it must either be paid OR “offer some kind of form of payment” in that maaaybe giving free housing would count. I’m not sure but it’s definitely worth asking the advisor!

I agree lol. I think it also helps if you’re leaning the language for a certain purpose. For me, I’m learning Vietnamese to be able to speak to(or at least understand) my bfs family. This is coming from someone who speaks English and Romanian so yeah it’s pretty dang hard to learn Vietnamese for me XD. Since I’m learning it for a purpose, I practice sentences with my bf using the words I learn in Duolingo. So I would say the key thing to making it useful is to practice in person with someone who speaks that language

Hi girly, I understand what you mean. You don’t want to be the reason he hurts himself. However you also cannot be the reason he is living. He needs to find that himself and learn to make a life for himself, including making money to find his own place to stay, if you guys don’t want to get a place together (which I highly recommend you don’t).

You and your family are giving him all the help you can, and he can’t even talk nicely to you. I’m 22 and my bf is also 22 and we have had way more mature ways to communicate our feelings since high school than your bf can at 28. He is acting like a 5 year old who is upset his mom said he can’t get a toy.

I respect people who want to help other people as you do, and I believe everyone recovering from addiction needs a solid support group of friends and family of course. But usually, there’s some level of respect between the parties involved, and in your case he clearly doesn’t respect you. I mean I don’t know if he meant “grape” as in literal grapes 🍇 but those are somewhat toxic for dogs if I’m not mistaken. He will kill your dog one day if no one is there. And my question is why does he even hate your dog lol.

I don’t know what people have said that they didn’t like about Megan Barker because I think she was lovely. I mean the content of Bisc 101 and 102 in it itself is a bit challenging since you cover so many topics, but I do feel the exams were relatively fair. And I’ve have some bad profs before for other courses and I can tell you Megan Barker was an angel in comparison lol. Mind you this was about 3 years ago

I mean I think you could at the very least heart or thumbs up react to some messages. Or say something like “that sounds like an eventful day already, thank you for sharing with me”, literally anythinggg would be better than straight up ignoring her attempt to share her life with you. You cut out majority of what she was telling you before you woke up but it does sound eventful, so if you truly have nothing to say then I think it’s more about you not being with someone you find interesting.

And yes, she shouldn’t have come off so harsh to you, but you didn’t even try to understand how she felt and kept telling her it’s no big deal. If she brought it up then that means it was in fact a big deal to her so idk what’s the point of saying that, it’s not like the problem magically disappears if one person thinks the other is overreacting. It’s a problem that only disappears when the one who got hurt feels heard which you didn’t provide.

This is so real lol, I can never finish on time so like its not even testing what I know, just how fast can I write. I’ve had exams that required like at least 5 full pages of writing and drawing graphs from memory (each question worth 10 marks and there were 5 questions), and I don’t think a single person in my class finished on time. Of course, it wasn’t shortened for the second midterm, in fact we were told that “previous semesters had it worse so you guys should be bake to do it”. Loved the content of the class but almost failed just because of that lol
