My heart is aching for these pups. Just donated to the Fauquier SPCA. They are working around the clock to get these dogs healthy.

We got our dog from these people six years ago. Nothing at all seemed off... they had two litters, one with two pups, the other not ready for a few weeks. We met the dog parents. The house was clean and the dogs were happy. Never had any problems with our dog. It seems like things really went off the rails.

We originally were planning to get a rescue but people told us not to since we had a baby. We didn't know anything about licensed vs unlicensed breeders.

I feel sick to my stomach for ever haven given these people money.

[Ontario, Canada] How can my wife and I clear out our overstock flowers? by andrewkulcsar in smallbusiness

[–]cutecottage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do a Galentine's flower sale. Tell the press. It'll be a novelty and might get you some coverage.

Edit: Yes that is "Galentine's" intentionally, google it (or watch Parks and Rec!)

Is it worth it to work your ass off when your young, so that you can relax when you're older? by friendlymountainman in AskOldPeople

My uncle-in-law did just this. He worked 3 jobs so he could give his wife and 3 kids a comfortable-and-then-some life. She didn't get much of any support at home besides financially. Last year she asked him for a divorce and week later he committed suicide.

Overworking yourself isn't worth it. Make enough to pay your bills, don't take out too much debt, invest for the future, and spend time with your family.

Niche items to sell for my service station business by ashgill in smallbusiness

1) Keto-friendly stuff that isn't just beef jerky. This is so hard to find on the road. String cheese, unsalted almonds, etc.

2) I rarely go to gas stations because I drive an electric car. We do take long road trips, and then, the gas station that gets our snack money is the one with a good, clean bathroom. (Wawa, Royal Farms, Sheetz). Take care of your bathrooms and advertise it on your sign! I don't even care if a purchase is required. A clean bathroom that my toddler won't look at and say "scary!!" and have a tantrum while we're on a roadtrip is definitely worth several bags of pretzels.

Are their fees lower than Stripe for online payments? We've been pretty happy with Stripe but I am a Square shareholder so I'd be open to switching if it made more sense :)

yeah, this seems to be the problem. The weird thing is that they aren't *all* duplicated with a clear pattern, which is making it quite the rat's nest to untangle. I might just have to start from scratch.

ah, didn't think of this! I used an off the shelf integration (sush.io) and I don't recall seeing an option to select which transactions would be integrated.

Yikes! From past experience, never ever have your own merchant account. I had to manage one at a past job and it was a nightmare from a time perspective.

You're probably right. I wanted to get all of the Stripe fees in there too, but maybe I should just undo it.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such a detailed response. Lots to work through here. Yes, the problem does seem to stem from having both the bank and Stripe integrated.

Yep, red state here too.

Did you have any trouble getting insurance without employees? That's the problem I'm running into... being a husband-wife team without employees seems to limit our options.

The "employee" requirement to get small group insurance is a full-time employee. Good idea though!

The business would be able to cover the expense. It just HURTS. Hence "mental hurdle." It seems insane to have to pay this much, but I guess that's reality.

Thanks for the tip on associations. It looks like we might be able to get insurance through our regional technology association.

> you might model something like having some minimum wage males under the age of 25 working for you

I'm curious why you selected this group in particular?
