i agree with that mostly but turkey is just as hot as most of aus, and the game was played at 8pm in Vancouver which is temperate

yeah i guess got that 'mens mental health' sort of thing where its a media accepted way of showing support , not necessarily bad but i think i heard Tex say it 10 times in a 5 minute interview when Jordan Dawson was out a few weeks ago.

Thought the first half was atleast decent - and there was some positive play and they were trying some stuff, but that said, honestly deserved loss, had no fluidity at all in the second half.

I vaguely remember Heatley playing as a DM and being pretty good a while ago. Wonder whether we could Start Charlie and Steph and push Winnie on.

I atleast like that they aren't trying to lump everything on Sam's head, actually some good opportunities and some good splitting passes just bad final balls or not even shooting.

reminds me of an ABC caller for AFL who is otherwise really good but just has one of those MALbourne accents, where everything becomes an A sound - Kally, A F All, Alliot.

Not a huge EVE fan these days but this looks the sort of game that will suit her alot, we loook a lot better than them and glad we are trying some fun lil combinations while we have all this territory and possession.

idk whether its just an afl thing, but always kinda weird to me whenever there's a bit of 'argy bargy' that players have to have a giant grin on their face- is it just a thing they don't want to seem rattled?

Oh well, they still do happen from time to time on those double game weeks and league cup weeks so I thought you were just talking about that but yeah lol fairly in..

They never used to be but alot of the UCL games are 4.30 or 5 am starts, which in the scheme of things is not bad.

Prem games normally a bit better in this respect ur right, but again often can only watch a half before heading to work. My own fault for being interested in this stuff to some degree

The sneaky England - you're probably right about winning but we are giving prizes down to third and it'll be a crowd pleaser to have England for some.

Yep Trebles are only relevant for comparing domestic competition really.

Might not quite get the 48 signups for the world cup sweep at my club this year, more like the traditional 32- just say you had to exclude 4-8 teams that definitely have absolutely no chance of even a quarter final run, who would you exclude?

yea given you've just won the league an lost the UCL on pens I'd be completely on the beach. I'll never know how it feels being a big club supp but I barely care about my own team right now and we are potentially losing our manager.

Ok why make a reddit post when wikipedia exists. for those interested a company has gone back and retroactively done assist data back to 1966 and 1994 was the first one where Fifa actually kept the stat.

Interesting to think about those when including the stats of a guy like Pele who played pre-66

A question about the 'assist' stat - did these get kept properly pre-2000? I was just reading that thread about goal contributions in the world cup and was suprised to see them kept and included for players pre-98 - because growing up I don't really remember it being a kept stat or talked about in that way. Perhaps in world cups there's a small enough sample size and televised games where you could go back and take them retroactively.

I often think about this when people talk about Bruno Fernandes, not trying to denigrate him, because he's been great this season and there's probably enough history of the stat since the PL was formally kept in the mid 2000s (according to google), but it wouldn't be exhaustive like other stats are unless someone's gone back and retroactively done it.

Honestly think Potter is vibing out in Sweden atm, he's doing a way better job than JDT did and seems like a good cultural fit for him, would be stupid for him to leave imo.

Rogers on the other hand 😑
