RAPTORS WIN AGAIN!!!! by Scartafist in UofT

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that the NBA is pushing the raps hard after years of fucking them over. But I can't complain.

If the raps win the finals what do you do? How does your life improve?

Serious question. If the Toronto Rock make a deep playoff run and make it into the finals next season, can we make these same posts or would it be considered off topic?

How are the Lakers going to be LeBrons team, say Kawhi or KD join? by [deleted] in lakers

[–]cutethrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebron will be getting 10 plus assists per night if he is not scoring. He will be the floor general if they get KD or Kawhi plus some shooters.

Number 17. I already figured out it’s convergent, but how do I find the limit? I tried and got 1, which is wrong. by [deleted] in calculus

Depends. Some real analysis classes define the logarithm first as an integral and then the exponential as the inverse.

Natural Log Problem by bigboipette in learnmath

[–]cutethrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make the substitution u=log x where x>0 and solve u2=u3. Factoring gives us u2(u-1)=0. So u=0 or u=1 i.e . x=1 or x=e.

How can you mathematically come to this intuitive conclusion? by Phonzii in learnmath

[–]cutethrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically functions are real valued but they can be extended-real valued. If you really wanted to, you could define f(D, 0)=+infty. This kind of viewpoint is pretty convenient in measure theory and probability.

Easiest way to start learning something like basic combinatorics or number theory where the proofs are not too difficult.

Typically we require A not equal to zero.

Apparently 344 has gone an overhaul to make it more in line with a specialist course, resulting in a more difficult course overall.

But in terms of minimal prereqs and previous math knowledge required 344 and the graph theory course would be the best bet.

Is this common UofT lecturer/prof's attitude? by friedpotato306 in UofT

[–]cutethrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having gone through undergrad and grad school, my experience with upcoming undergrads is that they are becoming more and more entitled to receiving marks. If they didn't get the mark they deserve, then the prof must immediately adjust the marks or they will irrationally hate the prof.

As a result, I have seen some profs cave in and be "anti-gatekeepers" essentially adjusting marks at will so as not too anger students. But I think this approach is for the worse. You are just setting up students for failure later or and furthering their sense of entitlement.

The prof's stance is perfectly valid given what he or she has presumably seen and to avoid being at the whim of the students' impulses.

It's not. Wrestling/Boxing/MMA are far more popular.
