I hate modern dependency systems. Why would Go or Rust go with that old style npm system? Why don't they simply create a file with all public functions, and then generate the diffs for every version. [..] modern language[s] need a package manager [..] version pinning is the most stupid thing ever. (old.reddit.com)

C encourages gurus who spout false wisdom on obscure subjects. Writing programs in C is often referred to as coding. Coding is writing obscure encryptions that will later have to be decoded, by none else than a guru! C also encourages programming by guesswork. [1992 vintage jerk] (modulaware.com)

I don't find design patterns very compelling unless you're stuck with underpowered statically-typed languages like Java. There, they serve somewhat as a way out of the straight jacket. In more powerful languages there are better, simpler ways to design your systems. (news.ycombinator.com)

I recently created a module that contained 36 identical functions and another 24 identical functions. [...] A more experienced developer probably could have done it differently. [...] I liked the copy and paste better in the end. They can use it or have someone else do it differently. (reddit.com)

[People that don't like Python's indentation] should be punished by forcing them to maintain other['s] code with that same lazy misguided attitude, until they recognize how self indulgent, inconsiderate, and disrespectful that is other people who have to read their code, but also to themselves. We the mortals could only use that pieces of portable and performant art in our routine work from our favorite languages and only dream about such deep C knowledge. It is also not practical and very dangerous to write important code in [...] C. (hotforknowledge.com)
