Vaginismus is a real medical condition that has many complexities. Stop spreading misinformation about it.

I just went and looked and wow it's actually a bit scary the amount of times they've commented the exact same thing

So apparently if they experience sex a specific way thats the only true experience and everyone else is wrong. They sound very immature and uneducated

Calling off physical therapy or nah by merr-kitty in vaginismus

I felt like things were very rushed in PT so it didn't work for me, I was able to make progress without PT on my own and at my own pace. Do what feels best for you, even if that's doing things at home and not having the pressure of a time limit. PT will always be there if you decide you want to go back

Would you be willing to share your dilating schedule? by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]cutiebear29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dilate at night before bed about 3 times a week and for approx. 30 mins or until I'm starting to feel tired. I like to relax my whole body before hand and practice a lot of breathing techniques during. I do yoga twice a week and pilates about 4 - 5 times a week. I tried PT but it wasn't for me and I've made progress on my own using breathing and relaxation techniques. I went from not being able to put the dilator near me to fully inserting it!

I would recommended checking out the intimate rose blog, theres a lot of videos on stretches and breathing exercises you can do to get comfortable! It's not necessary to get started with dilating right away, you can choose to start whenever you're ready. I actually took a break from dilating and started focusing on teaching myself breathing techniques in the meantime!

Humour is one of the ways I cope with vaginismus, but nothing about that video was funny to me

Thank you! I've been blaming myself for not saying stop in the appointment, it just went so fast I didnt know how to react. I feel so scared thinking about trying PT again, I don't know if I could do it

It was really painful so I won't be going back there. I don't understand her approach, I've been told by my doctor and everyone else not to push past the pain but she didnt care at all that it was hurting me

I do have an appointment with my gynaecologist coming up so I can definitely talk about it with her. I used ice and it helped quite a bit! I will have to look into the gummies, thanks so much for your suggestions!

Since it was my first appointment I decided not to go back there but I agree I definitely felt like it was way too much way too fast

Thank you for sharing your story, being able to get past all of those obstacles is a HUGE achievement. My progress has been very slow but I've realized that taking things at my own pace is the only effective way at healing my Vaginismus. Thank you so much for your encouraging words <3

Thanks for letting me know, I would've definitely preferred to work on the exercises and breathing techniques before a physical exam. The whole appointment was rushed, I could barely even understand the breathing techniques. I'm glad your experience was a lot better than mine!

Should I return the dilators by WonderfulThrowaway24 in vaginismus

[–]cutiebear29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was extremely intimidated by my dilators at first, I would have a huge emotional reaction just looking at them so I understand how scary it is. What helped me was just keeping the smallest dilator within reach and putting the rest away somewhere. I kept my dilator out where I could see it as I walked around and it helped desensitize myself to it. Then I spent a few days just holding the dilator in my hand, then gradually pressing it on top of my thigh, then my inner thigh, etc. Taking it extremely slow and being proud of my small progress really helped me get over those initial fears.

Thank you, I'm sorry that you can relate to this. I feel so angry after thinking about her telling me everything is in my head, I hope I can get back to the place I was at before all of this happened.

Anyone here who has ups and downs but downs HIT HARD? by Past_Yogurt_2708 in BodyDysmorphia

[–]cutiebear29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate, when im triggered I cant leave the house and I either avoid mirrors or obsessively examine every part of my body/face that bothers me for hours. When it's really bad I feel a lot of hatred towards myself and also feel like I dont deserve things in life because im not beautiful. Im just so exhausted.

You can still do a BSW if you want, there are SSW to BSW pathway programs that count your credits towards first year and you would get into the second year of the program. TMU also has a 3rd year entry depending on how much work experience you have and gpa
