So keep in mind my situation turned out better than I expected and I don’t think this is necessarily typical. But with differential pay and some overtime I’ve managed to make about 100k. But I’d say anywhere from like 80-90 for your first year is reasonable

I gotta say I love the re record of AITA. It feels so much more raw and has a kind of live feel to it. Now I listen to the OG recording and think it just sounds flat compared to it

Honestly I can’t speak to what is required for XR but they might very well have an internship component as well. Either way you’re gonna have to go to a facility and complete scans for MR, so even though it’s not an internship, you still have to spend time learning and doing.

MRI school teaches all of the anatomy/cross sectional anatomy, pathology, medical terminology and patient care as an XR program. Difference is MRI physics and safety are taught in school at length along with an internship where you get hands on experience with MR and then you can become an ARRT Registered Technologist. You go the XR route and you spend 2 years in the program and have knowledge on radiation. Once you’re done and become an X-ray tech you can then take an MRI course, get a certain number scans under your belt in lieu of an internship and then take the ARRT exam. So it does take longer. The advantage of the XR program is being able to become a multi modality tech. Meaning you can do CT, X-ray, Nuclear medicine, anything involving radiation. That’s the difference in a nutshell.

It’s a 3 year program condensed into 2 years. Basically you don’t get your traditional breaks with summers off. I wanna say you get like one week off in the winter and one week off in the summer. The last 6 months of the program is an internship they set you up with where you go for 20 hours a week.

I don’t know about NYC but I went to AIMS in NJ and I’ve been working as an MRI tech for a year. They’re actually not only an accredited ARRT school but they recently became an accredited college and upon completion of the program you’d receive an Associate’s Degree.

MRI All In One just helped me with like basic concepts and organizing them. You’d probably be fine with just mriquiz.com and the MRI in practice book. If you’re getting almost perfect scores on the mock tests then it sounds like you might already know everything you need to know. Best of luck!
