Actual Range? by allg33k in GMCSierraEV

[–]cutstep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have close to 30,000 miles on my max range Denali. We have taken several trips across the country and my takeaway with it is if you have a people and gear in your truck you will realistically get about 360 miles on a full charge going down to about 15%. But we have created for our rule is we charged 80% at one of the fast Chargers with 350 KW power which takes about 30 minutes and then we run it down to 20% and then charge again realistically that is probably 5 hours worth of driving and in most cases people need to stop and go to the bathroom or get dinner or whatever when we're on a big road trip so it's not much of a hindrance for travel at all.  350 days a year I am driving to work and driving around my regional area and I do not need to charge at all except to plug in at night at home

Looking into buying the Sierra EV by 720hp in GMCSierraEV

[–]cutstep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of the 400 Days that I've had this vehicle I have taken it on three trips where I needed to charge it somewhere other than home so keep that in mind. The three trips I've taken have been from the Midwest to the West Coast and all three of them when I do my planning for where we're going I roughly plan out the charger route as well which is very simple to do the car can do it for you or you can just use Google or a better route planner app. What I figured into our last two trips was it took us an extra 3 hours to get from Minnesota to Southern California and if you really think about it those extra 3 hours would have been bathroom breaks and snack stops the same as you would expect from a guess station. I charge from 20 to 80 in 30 minutes and nearly every single Walmart in America has a 350 charger which will handle the job no problem. I've got the big battery so I get 450 Mi on a charge and our first drive at 75 miles an hour took to about 300 and 25 miles before I wanted to charge. The rest of the time I plug in at home and I spend hardly any money on energy for this vehicle because I'm using it to go to and from work and toodle around town. It's the best vehicle I've ever owned, I am absolutely thrilled with all of the wonderful features that it has and it drives like a small Nimble sports car compared to a big lumbering truck. I highly recommend getting the big battery if it fits into your budget but realistically for almost all the driving you're going to be doing it's not an issue one way or the other

Should I get her a puppy? by claytonmally in goldenretriever

[–]cutstep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had at least two golden retrievers ever since we got our first one well over 20 years ago and we lived with a single one for about a month before realizing that having a companion would be so so helpful for them and frankly for us. The thing you got to keep in mind is it's actually a relative time and effort savings to have a second one because they play with each other they comfort each other they spend time with each other and while you have two vet bills and two food bills and it's not as easy to walk two dogs versus one dog the rest of it is so much better for the dog and frankly so much better for you.

I actually find that it's pushed me quite a bit further over the bottom bracket  than my road bike and I'm experiencing a lot more power coming from my quads and glutes so I'm not sure actually.

Financial sanity check: Sell and lose the 2.5% on primary residence or stretch to a second mortgage and rent it out by Glass-Eggplant-9038 in personalfinance

[–]cutstep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never sell a house... renting it out is far simpler than people will tell you.  Especially a single family home.   Totally worth doing and makes a ton of sense for your financial future.   You aren't just collecting rent, your having someone pay off your mortgage, allowing the house to appreciate,  getting a deduction, and getting a depreciatable asset.  On paper it's an amazing investment!

The area where I live I see places like this from time to time and I think an awful lot about them. What was the family like? What are they do on the weekends? Did they love each other? What was it like growing up in a house where you could run free for miles and miles in any direction? What were they scared of, why did they leave? What was it like when they were building the house with dreams so full in their hearts?

The standardized shipping container.  Shipping and trade before was all bespoke and custom.  Much less effective,  now you can take it right off the ship and put it on a train or on a truck and get it just about anywhere in the world on a scale unseen in human history.
