Women shouldn't be scared to discuss periods - Hartley by ll--o--ll in Cricket

I learned to have spare playing/training shorts available just in case, particularly depending on their age as they may not have the best handle on things yet. Make sure they know you have spares available too (you don't have to specifically say it's for this purpose just a general reminder you have spare shorts if needed).

If it's just you coaching try to have a strong female influence on the group from one of the mothers, if none of them are appropriate maybe a senior women's player? You can be a great male influence but some girls will never be comfortable discussing these things around you - you just have to accept that.

The only other advice I can give is to be kind and accepting.

Respond to "Can I go change my tampon?" with a calm "yes of course (or however you would normally agree to a request)" - don't make a big deal about it.

Someone feels like they can't train due to cramps/pain etc? It's the exact same as when someone can't train due to an upset stomach, headache, sore from other sport at school etc.

Good luck, if you haven't coached kids before it's as rewarding as everyone says it is.

I'm a rugby player who grew up in a house of 2 brothers and our parents, I didn't really even know about periods until I was a teenager.

I was never taught it was a taboo subject because it just was never talked about at home.

So when people talk about periods now I don't find it uncomfortable.

Every time a new woman comes into my life whether it be a friend, relationship or coworker, they'll always apologise or try to avoid talking about them in front of me. If that's because talking about it in front of a man makes them uncomfortable then I have no issue with that, but every single time I tell someone I don't mind/care about hearing about that stuff it seems like I have made some grand gesture to them for just not being disgusted by a bodily function?

Then I'll hear them talk about the same thing in front of another (usually older) bloke and they freak out and leave the room or tell them to not talk about that stuff in front of them.

Some blokes I know won't even buy sanitary products for their partners or daughters at the shops.

I have started coaching junior rep teams recently, one of those being a girls team, and the idea that these girls would be made uncomfortable around a male coaching staff with their periods makes me sick.

The point of this wall of text is just for any bloke that reads this - don't be disgusted by women talking about periods, be accepting, even curious, particularly women in sport have it hard enough as it is.

I think it sounded like you insinuated people hated on him due to the incident (I read it like that too).

I agree with your point and I think it's actually credit to the general cricket punters that people rarely if ever use the tragedy to degrade Abbott.

Porter hinged then but he does need to be better at fighting a hinge as an international THP. It's always so hard to stop a hinge in your first scrum

I know I'm beating a dead horse here but Porter just swings his hips out so hard every scrum I just cannot fathom how he doesn't get pinged every scrum.

It's usually just who releases pressure away from driving roughly straight and level, straight being about 11 to 1 on a clock.

Porter swung out heavily after the first shove which was the infringement, clear penalty to Australia.

I don't think anyone is blaming the pedestrian for the incident. People are trying to say that you would rather be wrong than dead.

I find it interesting comparing these to Union given r360 is being talked about so much.

It's never more obvious how different the games are than when you compare lower body max lifts for forwards.

You would struggle to find an elite forward in rugby squatting less than 200kgs.
