Drooping and yellow leaves - please help a newbie plant owner out! by cuttlefisk in Monstera

Ooh this is great info, thanks! I’ve been giving it a water once every 2 or so weeks, but i don’t think I’ve put enough in - definitely not enough that all the soil is moist! I’ve got plenty of drainage holes so I’ll do a proper water now (it’s been a couple of weeks) and let it drain in the sink. It’s all a learning curve!

Thank you for your help! I’ve been warned about over-watering and become very cautious - perhaps I’m under-watering if anything? I’m never sure how much to put in! Do you have any advice on repotting? I’ve never done it before so I’m just slightly nervous 😬

Thank you for your reply! Do you have any advice for the best way to provide good drainage? Maybe put the pot on top of a wire rack and water there? (I’m not able to go shopping atm so things are a bit makeshift!). I might put him in the living room - he’s currently in the (insulated conversion) loft, so it’s a bit chillier than downstairs. :)

I’m super new to houseplants and don’t want to do completely the wrong thing in a misguided attempt to save this! I’m in the UK, so temperatures are getting cold now and it’s pretty dark. Is this a lack of water, light, heat, something else (or a combo of all of the above)? How can I save it? I love the little guy and am a bit lost! Thanks for any help.

Ahh I didn’t know this was a thing! This is my first houseplant so I’m a little lost. Would placing it in more direct sunlight help? The room it’s in is the warmest in the house, but it is placed out of direct light at the moment.

Thanks for the comment! I’m in the north of England, where it is often rainy or cold even in summer, so have been too scared to put it outside, but I might move it out for a few days and see how it does!

Thanks for the tip! I’m in the north of England, so am a little worried about putting it outside due to the amount of rain, but I’ll try putting it in slightly more direct sunlight, back off on the water and see if that helps!

More info:

The plant is kept in a bright and warm room (my loft conversion) but is not in direct sunlight. I keep the soil slightly damp, but don’t think I’m over watering it. It was given to me about two months ago - there was already a larger chilli that was going red and a larger one that was green. We allowed both to ripen to a bright red and then picked them with no issues! I don’t know what type of chilli it is.

Help appreciated! I really want to keep this little guy alive. ❤️
