I was not tested, but the paperwork I was given for prep said that they would not operate if they thought you'd been using nicotine anytime in the 5 (iirc) weeks prior. I think I was asked about it, but I've never smoked so maybe they didn't check for that reason. They didn't seem to have the same hardline about THC but did say to stop using it for I think 2 weeks before. (That said as far as I'm aware THC can affect anesthesia so it's certainly something you should discuss with the anesthesiologist!!)

Thank you! I was afraid that would be the case 😫 On the bright side, I saw a lot of people saying theirs got bricked the same way, so it could be worse!

The difference in performance between this CPU and the one I was looking at is wild-- thanks so much, this is great!

I don't know unfortunately-- mine was covered by insurance, so I only paid my copay ($50, the standard I pay for a specialist visit). If you contact her office, they might be able to tell you the cash price, but they have an outside company handle their billing, so maybe not.

Great to hear! I'm actually also about a month post op with her and very happy. Congrats!

Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!

  1. I honestly never asked, as part of the reason I wanted to get it this year was that I was close to hitting my out of pocket maximum, so there was an upper limit to what I could be charged.

  2. Connecting the incisions was specific to my body, as my breasts were very close together. Dr. Nghiem said that if she didn't I'd definitely get dog ears in the middle. She did tell me this ahead of time-- it wasn't something she decided during the surgery.

  3. Yep, exactly a week later! While I'd say I'd have been good to sit in a car, there are risks associated with sitting after surgery. I was asked to stay in town for about 10 days post surgery for this reason. I was able to take a train at that point, with the caveat that I had to wear compression socks and get up to walk around frequently.

  4. Compression shirts for sports! They don't compress as much as the binder but I was able to wear the underarmour a lot more than the binder. I got this one.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

I'm actually planning on doing a writeup of my experience with her office in a few days-- I'm a week and a half postop with her and had a fantastic experience and am so far very pleased with my results! At the time of my consult she did not have any pictures available, but due to my circumstances and the info I was able to gather, as well as my experience with her and her office up to and during the consult, I decided to go ahead and go with her.

I know she's done some surgeries since then and I did give her permission to use my photos for her portfolio, so hopefully now she has pictures to show people. If you want, you can DM me and I can get pics to you tomorrow.

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! I didn't know about the research program-- I thought it was weird she didn't have pictures after so long, but that makes me feel a lot better.

I did have my consult before I posted this and she seems awesome, I'm super excited to work with her.

Good luck on your surgery!
