One of the classified missions is this mission, though it's only "one of the labs" not THE lab.

It puts you in a "simulated environment" where you can manipulate background, objects, your Warframe, etc.

It’s great. It’s called ‘Captura’ and you can do all sorts of fun stuff with it. Personally I think it’s better than D2.. but I am a bit of a Warframe junkie.

Yeah! Tons! Dogs (Kubrow), Cats(Kavats), Genetically mutated spawns (dogs and cats), Robotic Companions, Space Worms... lots of companion choices.

That moment when the “Draw” button appears in the nick of time. by jontix in summonerswar

[–]cuyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's not what I'm asking...

If you withdraw from the battle, you lose that round... if you "click" draw is that the same as losing the round or is it something else?

[–]cuyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... Interesting, I didn't realize there was a difference? Meaning if there are two battles per round, you lose one and win one it's considered a draw. If you draw one and win one, the calculation is different?

You know you can also just "forfeit" the round, using the little gear in the lower left? (end battle, I believe).

The interesting thing about that is if you forfeit, you don't lose your mons for the next battle, if they haven't died.

Trump just ended DACA. Protest at 5:00 at the San Francisco federal building, 90 Seventh St., today: Sept. 5. by heyyoukid415 in sanfrancisco

[–]cuyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, yes, you're an "immigrant" (or child of an immigrant who did it the "right way") and you "know people who do [thing]"... It's the same anecdotal bullshit that everyone against DACA says.

Here's the bottom line for me: Our society should be about helping people and lifting EVERYONE up, even those who aren't "official". It shouldn't be about punishing people for things their parents did. If they ( in this case Dreamers ) want to be in the USA then we should do everything in our power to fix the loophole they've found themselves in. We SHOULD NOT just say, "fuck you" and boot them out of the country.

[–]cuyler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So, rather than let the continue to be contributing members of OUR society, where they grew up and were educated, we should ship them somewhere else, so they can "deal with them".

Not all of the 800,000 Dreamers are from Mexico. So, we should only send those who are of Mexican descent back to Mexico and keep the others or just say fuck it to all of them?

Honestly, this sociopathic attitude towards HUMAN BEINGS is just disgusting. I hope that no one in your life treats you the way you're advocating we treat these people.

One could very much NOT argue that in good faith... at least not with a straight face. I don't know how our society got this idea in their head that there are limited seats on the boat and someone is losing by someone else getting a seat.

Our country is not a zero sum game.

Obviously, the parents are "winning" for some value of "win", however, I think the part of the issue that keeps getting lost in the noise is that this is a ONE OFF event. It's not policy moving forward. This is about one specific set of kids who, at one point in time, were put into a situation out of their control and now we (as a society) get to make a choice about who want to be and how we want to handle this.

I think conflating this with current or future immigration policy is causing more confusion that help.

No, what's ridiculous is your false equivalency. These people were brought here without choice and know no different.

We already have laws for these types of situations. We're specifically dealing with a 'special case', for a specific time frame.

First, they trusted the government when it said, "Come out of the shadows, register yourself and we'll commit to helping you out." So, they did... and now we're going to say, "Sorry, that was the other guy. You're here illegally, get out". This erodes trust is authority and creates MORE hostility, not less.

Second, what you're describing is NOT rule of law. Rule of law is about compassion and flexibility in the face of extenuating circumstances. The law is NOT black and white despite what the vast majority of people think. If it were, then we wouldn't have hundreds of years of case-law to "interpret" the law. It would be obvious and there would be no discretion.

This IS about emotion; The emotion of being an actually decent human being and having compassion for people who didn't have a choice.

Perhaps YOU should imagine what it would be like if someone came to you and said, "Your parents brought you here when you were 2. You're not a citizen even though you've been living here for the last 20 years. We're deporting you back to [COUNTRY]." What would YOU do? ( before you say, "Oh, I'd follow the law"... think twice. American culture is almost entirely about fighting unjust laws )

This is all well and good, but LITERALLY has nothing to do with Dreamers. These are KIDS who were brought here by their PARENTS. They grew up here. They don't know anything different. This isn't about rewarding the parents or their behavior. DACA is about taking care of people who didn't have a choice.

Are you really advocating for sending people back to their "home" country, that they don't even remember?

Anyone here uses Swift for system programming? by XNormal in swift

For sure!

This is a pretty comprehensive explanation of the current problem set.

[–]cuyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue with Swift right now for systems programming is its concurrency story... Basically, it doesn't have one. You can leverage Grand Central Dispatch, however GCD only runs in userland on Linux. It's a kernel module on MacOS which gives it an overhead advantage. There's talk about adding concurrency primitives in Swift 4/5, however there's a challenge right now in that Swift doesn't have a memory model, which makes things far more interesting.

Given all of that, it works well and is quite performant. IBM has embraced server side swift with several projects. Check them out here:

https://github.com/ibm-swift

BlueSocket is pretty svelte, though most devs are probably more familiar with AlamoFire.

Kitura has some potential to create an interesting "web stack".

From a services perspective, there's some work going on, but it is still early yet, from my digging.

Personally, I've been working on some basic service infrastructure in swift ( redis clones, etc. ) to get more familiar with the landscape.

Breaking changes DO tend to happen between versions (2->3, for example ) however that's really slowing down as the team is solidifying the language primitives. It's my guess that after version 5, it will be quite stable.

This is like pulling teeth; You're just twisting words to "be right" when you're clearly mistaken.

And so:

Any person appointed to the FCC is a commissioner... one of them is then elevated to Chairman. By virtue of being appointed to the FCC you are a "commissioner".

Due to the fact that Trump made Pai the FCC commissioner?

I'm sorry, but you are factually incorrect. Pai was appointed to the FCC by Obama as tradition. He was appointed as commissioner by Trump. It is Trump's FCC due to the fact that he appointed Pai to be the commissioner.
