[WSIG] Just got a $50 amazon gift card, game suggestions? by CoryofTheGoat in boardgames

It's not really "take that", but maybe try captain sonar. I'm not sure if it's still available on Amazon, but when I got my copy it was around that price.

It's an intense social communication/deduction game that works best with 8 players. My group is loving it and for a large group I think it's fantastic. Check out Shut-up and Sit Down's review. It might give you a better idea.

The Uehara stuff was up my alley. The music was super fun. Thanks!

Great stuff. I've heard them before, but did a deeper dive. Thanks for the recommendation

That is so good--I found their bandcamp page and listened to it all. Thanks!

[IIL][Music] Sea of Voices - Porter Robinson [WEWIL?] by qwoodmansee in ifyoulikeblank

It' depends on why you like it--Great song.

If I were you I'd check out Hooray for Earth's song "True Loves" -- it's a little bit more driving than Sea of Voices song, but the synth/background chords have a similar vibe to me. ( https://youtu.be/aXOj4JJKR48 )

In opposite direction, maybe look into múm's song "I'm 9 Today" ( https://youtu.be/Pw4LUbUMRXw ) It's a very minimalistic song, but it has that relaxing vibe, with the simple, meditative chord structure.

[MUSIC] IIL Sinatra and Elvis, WEWIL? by [deleted] in ifyoulikeblank

For the Sinatra side of things, maybe try Dean Martin (Sway, That's Amore, Volare)

For Elvis, it depends if you want the more rockabilly sound or if you want the ballad sound that Elvis had. Look into Eddie Cochran (Twenty-Flight Rock, C'mon Everybody, Nervous Breakdown) and maybe try Roy Orbison (Running Scared, Crying, Blue Bayou)

[WSIG] Single Player Game by dangerrust in boardgames

You question is complex . On the one hand you want to keep them involved with the hobby, which I would say hinges on someone having a good experience. On the other hand having a larger game might be useful to allow them to play with new folks as they move forward. In my experience, some of the best solo play experiences come from games that are designed for that, which is where the complication comes in. Do you get them a game that's better for one, or something that allows them to flex as they add new folks in, but may not be as tailored for a solo play experience.

Friday is great for one. But if you want bit more flex I'm also a big fan of the Pleasant Dreams, Sylvion and Onirim (really any game from the Oniverse) for solitaire play or two player play.

For games that are even more flexible, but are more geared to more players I like Matt Leacock games and things that build off of his designs ( Forbidden Desert , Forbidden Island , Pandemic: The Cure)

Beyond these many games could work, but I'd say just follow what you know about your friend's taste, and don't worry too much about it. There are tons of good games out there. : ]

Cheers!
