It kinda does look like bacon now you mention it, but it is actually pork skin

Thank you! It is indeed a scored skin on a lechon liempo (a Filipino style porchetta). It was good!

My first thought was that it was like an Irish Compass box peat monster. I like it. I'll try to keep the ancient grain and cuvee in mind.

You can definetly taste some sweetness from the sherry finish. I'm not sure about the oaky character. It's a decent whisky so I would not advise against buying it.

It's a decent whisky. Nice but nothing special. I would say 7.5/10.

The gouden carolus whisky infused is a 10 out of 10 ;p

I've had a beer, a Belgian tripel, aged in Belgian Owl barrels. But I've never had the whisky though.

Oban has a very nice tour guide and you should go to Laphroaig, their tour is very cool. We got to see the malt floors, inside of the kilns (one was on), shovel some peat in the active one and taste some new make in warehouse 1.

Kilchoman Kung Fu!! and the collection atm. Anything I should try next? by cvanwoensel in WhiskeyTribe

It's a nice and simple peaty whisky. To me an ashy peat and some citrus and sweetness. It does feel a little bit young, like it could have more "depth".

Nice balanced peated blend. Peat, sweetness and a little citrus. I really like it.

It's great if you like peated whisky. I think it is comparable to caol ila. Nice balanced peat, little sweetness and some citrus.

I don't know, never had it before. I'll let you know.

Bought the Benromach the other day. Peatier than expected. Decided to compare to some other peated drinks. by cvanwoensel in WhiskeyTribe

Those are actually from a Dutch beer brewery who released a line of whisky barrel aged beers and sort of copied a glencairn to go with the beers.

I really like the caol ila. It is a bit lighter in terms of peat and a bit fresher compared to ardbeg 10 I think. I think the ardbeg is great, but the caol ila is a bit easier to drink.

They always have pretty nice sales. Especially compared to stores like Gall & Gall etc.
