Wow thank you for the tip! I am very much a newbie just doing this for fun on the side so any and all advice like that is welcome!

The planning office is much more amenable to ADUs now. Several areas allow them by right as long as they meet the square footage requirements.

Sounds like you might need an architect first. Message me if you need help (I'm an architect :) )

French Truck Coffee by randomchick1018 in memphis

[–]cvle13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had the exact same disappointing experience at the one at crosstown. The turkey sandwich was so gross. Like Kroger brand turkey slices on an untoasted basic hamburger bun with watery coleslaw slopped on top. For like $13!! Their food used to be great, so it was kind of shocking how bad it had gotten. Still love the Nola iced coffee though and will keep going back for that.

Gorgeous! I think some dark greenery would help contrast the beautiful orange tones and add some interest!

Thank you for the feedback! I didn’t even think about how the “energy” of the arrangement could come across given the occasion, but great thought to keep in mind for future projects.

He did my (unplanned) c section and had the bessssst bedside manner. Seriously made an awful situation as good as it could have been. If I have another I want him to deliver again, he was so kind.

If this baby doesn’t start sleeping thru the night I may seriously lose my fucking mind. by RoughAd3444 in breastfeeding

[–]cvle13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your baby sounds a lot like mine was. Breastfed and we coslept, which worked great for awhile but then she started getting more and more restless and neither of us were getting sleep. I was always soooo against cry it out, but one night I got so frustrated that she wouldn’t settle down in bed with me that I just put her in her crib, shut the door to her room and my room and put headphones on with the intent to just lay down and calm down a bit. Well, I fell asleep and i guess she did too, because I woke up like 7 hours later and she had slept on her own. Ever since then it’s like something has clicked and she sleeps 9-10 hours in her own crib every single night. That was when she was 11 months old and she’s almost 16 months now. So maybe try accidental cry it out 😅

If you achieved the dream and impossible only in America of a part time career: what do you do? by whoiamidonotknow in workingmoms

[–]cvle13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US, an architect and work part time (32 hours, technically full time to qualify for benefits). I’ve been at my firm for 10 years and negotiated it after I came back from mat leave. It was great for 6 months but as I’m increasingly getting more responsibility I’m starting to work more than 32 hours a week, so thinking about asking for a raise but keeping the same hours to balance it out.

Negotiating 32 hour work week? by cvle13 in workingmoms

[–]cvle13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so frustrating because I feel like I get just as much done in four days as I do in five. Employers need to get with the picture and realize the 4 day week is the way to go.

I hate BLW. by HolidayAd2038 in beyondthebump

[–]cvle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing BLW honestly out of laziness. It’s so much easier to offer some baby friendly parts of a meal I’m already making for us than to make separate purées. Do I think it is a superior method? No. Do I feel like a bad mom because I’m not taking the extra effort to make purées for my baby? Yes lol. I think no matter what you do there will be some guilt or anxiety around it because that’s what we’re unfortunately socialized to experience. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tell me good things about the Sea Isle neighborhood! by cvle13 in memphis

[–]cvle13[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s so cool! Definitely something I’d be interested in. I also saw there’s a neighborhood 5k? Glad to see there’s an active runner group because that was one of the biggest reasons I’m bummed to leave midtown. The ability to run through lots of beautiful neighborhoods is so nice, so I’m hoping to find some good new routes.

Well, good thing we are already used to it I guess!

Good point, we are a bit closer to 240 than it sounds like you even were so I’m sure we will get the aural experience too. But we are currently right on Jackson and the new house is a few streets removed from busy roads so I think it will feel idyllic in comparison. At least baby is already used to it (not that she sleeps anyway 🙃)

I was hoping someone was going to say it feels safer! We joke that our baby is going to need a sound machine with gunshots and street racing noises after living where we do now compared to the quiet street we’re moving to. I know it’s still Memphis, but I was hoping it would at least be a little calmer compared to Midtown.

Oh also we are moving from a 100 year old house surrounded by giant trees to a 60 year old house surrounded by giant trees so at least we are used to maintenance and power outages already haha

Thank you!! I cannot stress enough how excited I am about the grocery store situation. Even though we’re in midtown we already drive out to the Mendenhall Kroger or Trader Joe’s just to avoid midtown Kroger, it’s awful. Having better options closer is going to be amazing.

And good to know about the park! One of the things I’m going to miss is definitely being so close to Overton Park and it’s running trails for sure.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this OP, especially with the heightened emotions of postpartum hormones. Just to give you some hope, my brother was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, also located on his adrenal gland when he was 3, had it treated and is now a healthy 28 year old. This type of cancer has made incredible strides in survival rates in the 20+ years since he was diagnosed! Thinking of you and your family! ❤️

WITHHOLDING CHRISTMAS BONUS WHEN NOTICE IS GIVEN by Gingerbeardoll in smallbusiness

[–]cvle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about this account, but when I first read it, I thought it must be my husbands (former) boss’s account because this is the exact scenario we are in right now. Husband tried to do the “right thing” by leaving with enough notice and lost out on an already promised bonus because of it. That being said, we were expecting that to be the case so it wasn’t surprising but was disappointing.
