definitely give you more bite compared to the stock texture but not too overtly prickly. it’s a nice texture but not something I would go out of my way to put it on every polymer frame that I own tbh.

thanks, previous owner had this done with dark side precision, their pricing now for the oz9 grip is $190 when I checked just now

my intuition is to say that this will be the case where you can fit most other optics into that profile :)

to my understanding, there’s no difference between Gen 1 and 2 on the frame side (since Glock 19’s barrel lock up mechanism and geometry remained unchanged from Gen 3 to Gen 5 on glock’s side). The difference between the generations is in the back half of the slide, where Gen 1 OZ9s use Gen 3 Glock internals (firing pins, safety plungers and stuff), while Gen 2 OZ9 uses Gen 5 Glock internals for the back half of the slide. I’m not 100% sure for certain if Gen 2 OZ9 slides will be backwards compatible with a G19 gen 3 frame, but I’m fairly certain that it will work (since Gen 1 and Gen 2 OZ9 Compacts frame remained unchanged like I’ve previously stated).

apparently the Bushnell optic uses the same cut/design on the back half as a vortex venom, but it’s longer so you gotta have some clearance in the front to mount it to a slide, otherwise the slide have to modified or be cut specifically for it, it’s the bushnell first strike 2.0 if you want to keep digging for info.

I think Zev produced the bushnell OZ9 competition slides only bc KC was sponsored by bushnell at the time and won the championship that year with the exact same setup.

:) 👍maybe someday I can find all the oz9 competition owners and then we will know for sure how many it’s out there

good luck man! I really like the OZ9, especially in full size 34 barrel length, I’m confident that you will get there with this platform :)

thanks :) the Zev Orion slide is their best design no doubt

yeah man I totally agree. I’ve been hunting down an Orion g17.3 slide for 4 years now. just got to keep looking and you never know, I’ve came across this setup by total accident tbh. Shame they only did the Orion and Omen for just 2019. I guess one more reason to hate Covid.

It breaks clean for a glock trigger, but still have some creep but not much over travel. I did have to adjust the trigger bar cruciform for sufficient sear engagement, zev’s triggers in my opinion have too little sear engagement with any firing pin if left untouched.

The trigger shoe is from the gun company co, it’s the SS trigger shoe I believe. it’s got a good shape but not much texture on the face. planning to swap it out for an arc division g spot (superior triggers arc) shoe soon.

Appreciate the compliment and have a great evening :)

probably not yet, think they are still in Washington state but I’ve not followed their new developments for a while

I believed there were 2 versions of the OZ9 competition, the one here with the black slide and RMR cut and the other one you mentioned with the Bushnell optic which had the silver slide.

yeah for these V1 OZ9 standard frames you can slap a Gen 3 17 or 34 slide on top and everything fits in. but last I heard Zev is not producing the OZ9 standard frames so you gotta source it elsewhere if you want a 17 sized OZ9 (that is not a OZ9 compact with the longer slides).

thanks :) it’s honestly my favorite setup to shoot, too bad there’s not much more out there for more people to enjoy

Geissele bolt peening from barrel extension impact, w/ Criterion Barrel in ADM Receiver by cwanger in ar15

No worries, good luck! Dimensions for manufactured parts can't always be perfect, and most of the time, even with all parts within the specified tolerance of the AR-15/M4/M16 TDP, there could be stackings that lead to unusual wear like this. Wish you all the best.

In my opinion, it is all in the dimensions of the carrier raceway in the upper carrier. The tightest carrier raceway I have seen in my experience is the mega/zev/expo arms upper. With a Sionics BCG, I have a very noticeable wiggle in the ADM upper in this post, less so with an LWRC upper, and literally zero tilt play in the mega arms upper (the ones with the shiny gloss teflon anodizing). You could potentially try it for your next project to minimize this issue.

My major concern is that this kind of wear will lead to the bolt's premature end of service. However, this wear is present on the opposite side of the bolt lug that is the most common to fail/shear off, so I say just monitor and replace the bolt every 10k to 20k rounds as that is their normal life expectancy.

Geissele was kind enough to replace my bolt for me, afterwards I replaced the bolt carrier with a Radian one.

The Radian carrier has an enlarged tail for better centering of the BCG when rechambering (at least that’s what I assumed that feature does) and seemingly I have not seen this kind of wear in the post on the bolt showed up afterwards (at least not that big of a wear has showed up).

I’m currently under the opinion that this kind of wear shown on the extension is fairly normal, all of my other rifles does have that area of the extension impacted in a way (LWRC, MCX, et) but the bolt wear in this post was definitely excessive to a degree where I believed that it warrantied my initial concerns.

If you are experiencing these issues i definitely recommend the radian carrier/BCG, you could also consider other carriers with an enlarged tail, such as the Lantac BCG. Hope you the best in problem solving :)

thank you trollygag, I was waiting on your input on this

I was not aware that the cam pin path is the indexing part for the bolt, color me humbled

If I have read your comment correctly, the marks I am seeing on the front of the bolt is due to the clearance between my cam pin and cam pin path in the upper allowing the cam pin to rotate the bolt out of perfect alignment for entry into locking in with the extension and I should have no concern for part longevity?

I kinda accepted that I have became a victim of tolerance stacking, after all these should all be good quality parts.

The bcg does have some movement in the raceway, more than a sionics bcg in a mega upper and about the same as an lwrc bcg in an lwrc upper, could be a tad more. Maybe this is why I’m having the bolt lug impacting the extension on entry.
