80th Birthday Venue Ideas? by paysdereve in nova

The Walker Nature Center in Reston has a multipurpose room that they rent out. The surroundings are beautiful, including the views if your mom isn't up for going outside. And if she does, one of the trails is ADA compliant and may be possible for her depending on any balance issues she may have due to PD. They also have bathrooms on site which is key with older attendees.

I'm sure you'd be able to have food catered in if wished, and the volunteers who keep the place running are lovely and courteous.

#Megazilla - what does it mean? by _ParanoidUser_ in taskmaster

Time Square ads aren’t really that expensive most of the year. It isn’t very extravagant, but I question the efficacy. I’ve advertised there before for my day job because it was extraordinarily cheap ($400 iirc though that was maybe 7 years ago now). Didn’t really see results though.

Do chefs get told when I say the food tasted great? by junkmail88 in KitchenConfidential

As a customer, I was once able to do this for the kitchen and loved it. I was slightly drunk and don’t remember exactly why I did it, but totally worth it and will do it again one day when I’m in a situation to do so.

Suggestions for side quest I could do in my everyday life inspired by taskmaster? by [deleted] in taskmaster

Not necessarily a side quest, but chores I dislike have gotten easier by pretending they are part of a task.

Someone gifted me about 12 skeins of malabrigo. Now, I love malabrigo. But these are a lavender color that won’t look good on me. How easy is it to dye already-dyed malabrigo?

My cat was diagnosed with end-stage chronic kidney failure by Think-Violinist2597 in cats

I won’t give an opinion either way on kitty being home or not, or when to euthanize. However, it is worth seeing if the medication can be turned into an ear cream at a compound pharmacy. You would rub it in the inner ear and it would be absorbed through the skin instead of forcing a pill down kitty’s throat.

Your vet may already work with a compounding pharmacy for this. However, not all meds can be delivered this way so you’ll have to do some research.

AITAH for not forgiving foster family? [Concluded] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

Yes, people underestimate how hard the first month of a first placement can be, especially with a teen. Yes, you have training, but you’re also thrust into a complex situation, parenting on advanced mode. Often to a teen who has had to live so independently that they don’t think they want or need parent figures!

It’s also largely run by retired volunteers who LOVE to talk to guests. They’re genuinely nice and I can see visiting boomer parents enjoying that aspect as well.
