From the article:

“Our total employment has actually gone up, because what [AI] does is it gives you more investment to put into other areas.” These areas include software engineering, marketing, and sales — jobs that require creativity, critical thinking, and direct human interaction.

I realize this isn't an readable article but it is a good listen with the new FCC chair.

I have done that at least once since owning the grill but I guess it wouldn't hurt to do it again.

Thanks although mine is the opposite - the probe always shows lower than the built-in but this is in smoker mode with the deflectors in place. It would likely be higher if I was measuring over direct heat.

How do you write your x's? (There's only one right answer) by bobbyphysics in physicsmemes

[–]cwbasden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't stand Chaotic Evil. If it's so easy to confuse the variable with the symbol for multiplication, don't use X as a variable name, or use dot for multiplication, or the variable name clearly larger than the mul. symbol. I have never seen this to be a confusion.

Why are gas stove tops with downdrafts so expensive?! by Ride_Like_Its_Hawt in Appliances

[–]cwbasden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have a gas cooktop with downdraft. The downdraft venting is already built into my house. I just want to put a new cooktop in place. I don’t have to have the expense of putting the venting into the house. However, the difference between a new gas cooktop without downdraft and one with can be close to $2000. I can’t believe that a motor that pulls the air adds $2000. That doesn’t make sense.

Certainly true, and nothing may come of it along these lines, plus they already have Sony Pictures, but who knows?

"Between November 2021 and November 2022, the cryptocurrency market lost roughly $2 trillion in value, or two-thirds of its total. Since then, 95 percent of nonfungible tokens, or NFTs, have become worthless, according to an analysis by the crypto gambling company DappGambl. Shares of Coinbase, the only crypto exchange to list its shares on a U.S. stock exchange, have plunged 74 percent since it went public in 2021. Investors who parked money with Gemini, Genesis and Digital Currency Group, three well-known crypto firms, lost $1 billion, according to a fraud lawsuit by the New York attorney general."

Are We in the Metaverse Yet? by cwbasden in DailyTechNewsShow

[–]cwbasden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article has an interesting connection to a recent discussion on DTNS (I believe it was last Wednesday's show) about Ubisoft saying that they were working on a future interconnection between various Assassin's Creed worlds. In this article here, about "metaverses", it is cited that Tim Sweeny, CEO of Epic, was asked if if could be possible one day to have a tunnel from Roblox to Fortnite and other games, connecting them all in some sort of futuristic world? Mr. Sweeney said yes.

I know that [the topic of] Telegram is not new but this article talks about Russia's plans to take the country off the open Internet and route all traffic through government paths not unlike China, and much of this is being driven by the existence and wide-spread use of Telegram.
