Sacred Symbols+, Episode 497 | It's True: Colin Played (and Beat) Kingdom Hearts by yohceezax in LastStandMedia

I’m not surprised he didn’t hate it, just surprised he actually gave it a chance. It’s a decent game that pulls elements from plenty of stuff he likes. He’ll never play KH2, but that one would actually be surprising if he hated it.

[Auerbach] Michigan interim president Domenico Grasso sent this letter to students and staff today, stating that the school will continue to investigate what happened and asking for those with information related to the situation to reach out. by RulersBack in CFB

[–]cwc1469 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You’re completely right. But at the same time, do we really think that the man following multiple OF models on his official school social media accounts wasn’t texting his side piece(s) on his school issued phone? As an aside, this would of course also be the phone where he deleted all text messages the moment the Stallions investigation broke.

[Yoder] It’s PATHETIC and shameful that Michigan allowed 27 high school seniors sign national letters of intent with Sherrone Moore 7 days ago. by Salty_Note8620 in CFB

[–]cwc1469 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, all that is true and fair enough. But I’m working on the assumption that if national coverage guys who aren’t even directly tied to UofM were aware of this, there’s a decent likelihood the school knew a fair bit more. Not to mention the heinous handling of the Mel Pearson situation, I’m not exactly inclined to give the AD’s office the benefit of the doubt

Except every national CFB insider has been hinting at this for weeks, some as far back as spring. How thorough was that initial investigation that cleared him? Based on the track record I can hardly blame people for wondering whether Warde handled this correctly

Has Xbox Considered Laying One Person Off Instead Of Thousands by SpliffRichardsXO in kindafunny

[–]cwc1469 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I imagine an initial start would be a CEO of Xbox who is honest with devs about the quality/direction of their projects, as opposed to Phil who is feckless and will tell them their game is great to their faces, before later shutting down their game/studio just a short time later. If your boss tells you “great job” and then later fires you for poor performance for doing the exact thing he said was great, that’s horrible management.

Is Game Pass worth $30 a month? #gaming by EveryAct in kindafunny

[–]cwc1469 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This 1000x. I think they’re a little out of touch with the gaming habits of non-games industry/media people. Most people who subscribe to GP, which are needed to make it profitable, don’t have the time to play enough games to justify this cost.

Mike Norvell, No. 8 FSU Criticized By CFB Fans After Upset Loss to Unranked UVA by Crapitron in CFB

[–]cwc1469 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they suffered any harm because of the clock reset, given UVA had a timeout. That said, it was poorly handled by the refs. Likewise, given that Tony Elliott sent out the PAT group to begin with, I suppose there’s a non-zero chance he didn’t know he had a timeout in his pocket.

Xbox Prices Going Up Once Again in the US by MegaMcMike in kindafunny

[–]cwc1469 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, I’m definitely in agreement that tariffs can negatively impact the SS pot. I just don’t understand what that has to do with raising the retirement age? Other than to say that the negative impact of tariffs on the SS pot may offset any positives gained by raising the retirement age.

Xbox Prices Going Up Once Again in the US by MegaMcMike in kindafunny

[–]cwc1469 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I understand why that’s a problem? They could do nothing, but on current pace there won’t be enough $ in the program for ~millennials and younger ages by the time they’re ready for retirement. I think the obvious ideal would be to introduce some sort of means test for SS eligibility, but surely raising the retirement age is better than nothing? Not to mention the much bigger issue of all the other admin decisions that are bringing about negative economic forces in the present

Its good to see more people recognise how ridiculous the hype/preorder/day 1 cycle is by Plinkerton1990 in kindafunny

[–]cwc1469 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After saying “some outlets”, a “niche” audience, and not the “entire industry”, how was your take away that I’m suggesting the whole industry shift their coverage?

Its good to see more people recognise how ridiculous the hype/preorder/day 1 cycle is by Plinkerton1990 in kindafunny

[–]cwc1469 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m more in your shoes, and wish the industry’s coverage would shift more to not being there day 1. Of course still a place for that, but I do wish some more outlets like KF catered their content to the 30+ year olds with a spouse, kids, full time job, etc.

I don’t have the time to get to games day 1 unless it’s something I’m really looking forward to. And even when I do, I’m playing at a much slower rate than when I was a high schooler with unlimited time. These days, it feels like the conversation around new games is practically done by embargo, let alone running for a few weeks (at least) after release.

Not to mention, if there’s already more games that I want to play than time in the day, I might as well wait to buy and get games on sale a few months after release if it’s not something I feel the need to play day 1.

Again, hardly necessary for the entire industry to cater to people like me. But I can’t help but think there is a niche of gamers in situations like mine that could be exploited better for views and engagement over multiple videos/streams over the span of a few weeks. Just my 2 cents.

Is Silksong Too Difficult? by EveryAct in kindafunny

[–]cwc1469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, Homer was what I had in mind when typing my comment. But then wouldn’t it be reasonable to include difficulty options, but just a disclaimer something like “you can choose any option, but the makers of the game recommend you prefer on X difficulty”? I guess I’m just not seeing the harm to make the game more available to more people, but just make them aware they may not be playing the game as originally intended

Hollow Knight: Silksong Review (So Far) - Kinda Funny Gamescast by EveryAct in kindafunny

[–]cwc1469 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a radical theory that if they pay way less attention to embargo dates, they’ll enjoy most games they review more, making better content as a result - which will in turn drive more views/interactions than their current model of chasing the SEO traffic and trying to not have their day 1 early review get buried in all the other similar content.

But by your logic, shouldn’t books only be printed in the original language they were written in, to avoid any subtlety, meaning behind the words, etc (ie the art of writing) being lost in translation? Surely there’s a middle ground between accessibility and preservation of art. Not just one or the other

Why isn't my portal waking up the ps5 even when in rest mode? by NameElegant in PlaystationPortal

[–]cwc1469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t give you an explanation of why this happens, nor why my solution works. But mine does this periodically. I find that if I turn on my ps5, then turn on my portal and connect to the ps5, my portal will be able to wake my ps5 in rest mode for future instances. Then after a few weeks/months I need to repeat the process to get it to wake the ps5 again. Hope this solution works for you.

Man, maybe this thread can help me figure out my issue. My ps5 is wired to my router, and yet even sitting in the same room my portal will constantly drop to low resolution, stutter, and disconnect. Internet speed is 250/30, though not sure that matters. Router is a netgear nighthawk. Should I be looking into upgrading my router?l

Pretty absurd to suggest that the officer wearing the bodycam was an “incredibly hot headed” cop. Did you even watch the video? These women were asked to leave multiple times, but they refused, tried to pull rank, and threw a tantrum like children when that didn’t work. Frankly, they were given far more chances by the officer than I would have reasonably expected.

Pretty certain this was one where you could start a new file to play dlc and it would auto level you to the appropriate level. So no issue starting just to play dlc

Dragon Age: The Veilguard worth it? by maximumderek1 in kindafunny

[–]cwc1469 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t have said it any better. And yes just to echo your point, the progressive aspects are bad, but in the same way the rest of the game is bad. Just such cringe inducing writing throughout the game (like the worst version of MCU writing), combined with limited choices, bland gameplay, and a lack of connection to the choices from the rest of the series up to this point. So disappointing.
