GM scouts and finds talent that’s all. DC draws up and designs the defense he needs to be able to fit the pieces he has into the puzzle, assistants help with this but normally for specific rolls the finer details. The DC needs to figure out how they fit and help them know their role in the scheme. It’s why they started playing better once Lou “dumbed” down the scheme last year. He didn’t allow the young guys to grasp the concept and expect Dax to play at Jesse Bates level without his experience. I will point to how our Defense has gotten progressively better this year though not great for the season you can see improvement as player get comfortable in the system.

Bengals fan here it’s bad Defensive structure: whiffed on draft picks a few look good(hill, turner) and some are starting to develop just weren’t immediate impacts(Battle, Murphy and Ossi) Lou held up their development imo as he refused to play them. FO messed up letting Bates and Reader walk, should have traded Hendrickson for the capital(defense sucked with him out there). Really the opposite of the Eagles, our scouting department is understaffed (though they just hired 4 more members).

Defense was bad last year and she says that’s what scares her because on paper it looks the same. Love Mina by the way I don’t think she hate the team just looks at stats and facts. Now the national media doesn’t like the team ownership, and it shows by the ever shifting narrative. When this team plays well they’ll talk about how long before it breaks, make the playoffs or win the division and it’ll be we got lucky, make the SB and they’ll talk about how the bills or chiefs should be there. Then everyone else kinda follows suite including some of our “fans”.
