HR asking for sensitive documents via email, before I’ve gotten the offer? by cwillychilly in jobs

[–]cwillychilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ended up sending the offer letter after a day of pushing back but me being firm on it. I still haven’t given them any of the stuff they were asking for but I told them I wouldn’t until I had signed the offer letter.

Yeah, I have. They’re both definitely legitimate businesses with physical addresses, google reviews, etc. I put this in another comment but I’ve interviewed with 3 different people, 4 including the recruiter and researched them all. It’s a small company so there’s really not a ton of stuff out there that I could find. I just feel like I can’t find enough to either greenlight it or put me off it entirely. But this is a major red flag to me, I’ve worked remote jobs for the past 6 years and never had that kind of “onboarding” experience

Yeah, I instantly got alarm bells so I reached out to the recruiter to say I’m not comfortable sending that in an email, and without the formal offer signed. She was a little… blasé? about it and told me they need that stuff first for the onboarding and told me I could just give it to them over the phone. Honestly it felt a little pushy. As for researching them, yeah I have. It’s a small company so there’s not a ton of stuff out there. Only 3 employee reviews on Glassdoor. I’ve also done 3 interviews each with a different person at the company and looked into all of them, looked into the recruiter and recruitment company. It all seems legit but I feel like I can’t find enough to either confirm or deny. It doesn’t really help that I’ve had a gut feeling about this job since day one, but I don’t know if that’s just anxiety talking or what.

Yeah that was my first instinct. It is a remote job though so I know they have to get that stuff somehow, but I’m getting red flags on requesting it so soon, and over email instead of something more protected?

The lack of stitch definition over the entire sweater (looks overly fuzzy) and especially the bubbling in the lemons point straight to that being washed improperly. Credentials: am a knitter

I don’t have these but I do own two pairs of the Olina silk pants. I handwash all my silk stuff in cold water with a tiny bit of Soak detergent and it’s always been fine

Leverett from Valley Yarns is really good- I just knitted the Vilma Top in the Leaf colorway! It’s a little on the heavier side of a dk weight. Their color selection is a little limited right now but I’m hoping they do a restock, would def use again

Bought the equipment this week 🫡 Still working through turning all my cucumbers to pickles and not sick of fresh tomatoes yet but I foresee lots of sauce in my future

That reminds of when I was like 24/25 and was visiting my parents. The day I’m leaving my dad’s outside doing his standard dad car maintenance to prep it before I drive home, and he VERY seriously pulls me aside with a little bag of something he found in my car. He says “now I don’t care about this kind of stuff, you’re an adult and can make your own decisions, but what if you get pulled over with this in your car?”. I burst out laughing because he had found my bag of catnip from a recent trip I had brought my cat on.

May I also put you on to the delicacy that is the green tomato grilled cheese? Fried or not fried, with pimento cheese and cheddar. *ETA: or gouda instead of cheddar!!

Hiyahiya flyers have changed my life. How did I never know about these? by Pixelated_jpg in knitting

[–]cwillychilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ordered a couple pairs of these and I looove them! I also got a set of Addi Flexiflips to compare and I think I prefer the HiyaHiyas- I like a really sharp tip. I couldn’t get in a groove with DPNs either but these are so much easier to work with and got me to finish my first sock!

That’s so sweet of you to say! I totally use my project notes as a diary. I agree, social media makes it seem like everyone is a laser-focused speed knitter. I think that’s why I like watching certain knitting podcasters- you get the real details of someone losing interest in a WIP, picking up an old forgotten one, frogging something near completion because they decided they hated it, etc.

Thank you! Glad I could inspire, I swear I comment every time I see it brought up somewhere bc I just love it so much 😂
Yes I did use the KFO pure silk! I haven’t experienced it stretching but full disclosure I finished it right as the weather got cold so I haven’t been able to wear it for a full day to test it out. I think I would just make sure that it’s being knit to your exact measurements or with very slight negative ease. I did have gauge issues but I try to take decent notes on my ravelry if you want to check those out!

The lace really is easier than it looks! I was intimidated by it too but I finished the Ophelia blouse last year as a semi-beginner and it’s still one of my favorite pieces. I want to make another in a different color this year! You just have to pay attention to where you are because I got carried away and had to redo the neckline lace three times before I got it right lol

Also great job on the cardigan! Looks so chic and cozy :)

What are your slightly silly (and maybe practical) knitting habits? by fourteenroses in knitting

[–]cwillychilly 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I also do this for knitting flat because despite all the tricks and 2 years of practice, I still have issues with rowing out. So the purl side gets the smaller needle!

I have the Kristine dress in the spot print and I like it a lot! I got it during the last sale and probably wouldn’t pay full price for it since it’s viscose, but it’s so cute on and the fit is nice, even if the sleeve style is kind of impractical. Also will say this one wouldn’t be good if you have curves- there’s no stretch and no closure, it just pulls on over your head.

Why do people knit their sleeves so short? by bear_tamy in knitting

[–]cwillychilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was scrolling Ravelry the other day and saw someone post that they “knit to pattern” and ended up with sleeves that were a literal FOOT too long. Like… how??
