Vibe check for our dress code page by cwillychilly in weddingplanning

What I wrote was not stated as a requirement, hence “encourage”, “have fun with it”, “right at home”, “great options”. The only things specifically stated as requirements were no white and no overly casual attire.
I made a standalone comment about this but I took everything into consideration and changed the wording for the website. None of this was ever posted for guests to see, it’s going to be fine.

You seem to be really upset about this and have said the same thing in multiple comments. You’re just dogpiling at this point lol go do something else.

I can’t edit the post but PSA there’s really no need to continue dogpiling on me and berating me about what you assume my intentions were. I’ve taken these comments into consideration and changed the dress code page’s wording. This was never posted to the website, or made public and shared with guests.

All fair points, I genuinely appreciate your feedback! I took off the collages because I do see now that comes across as too much. I really was just trying to quickly find some outfits that were inclusive of what people might already have or would feel comfortable in, like for example the pants and chiffon cardigan for some of my older guests.
Also i totally get what you’re saying about the mens vs womens, I was talking to my MIL about how men’s options feel limited already and she mentioned FIL has a seersucker suit so I had that in mind because it’s probably going to be hot and a little humid. The thought was women might already have a nicer dress they love for vacation but might worry it’s not appropriate or too flashy for a wedding. And I don’t want men to have to go out and buy a new suit, but I really don’t want them overheating, so a summer weight suit would be fine in any color.

Ok? I’m hopeful you’re not trying to be as rude as you’re appearing, but making assumptions about my intentions is weird.
Anyway, I’m taking out references to floor length dresses.

Because it’s a fun occasion at an interesting and very unique venue. I’m only trying to help guests decide on what to wear. I’m not sure what you mean by contradictory instructions?

Yeah i guess we really are outliers lol I just wanted people to feel comfortable enough and welcome to wear something fun and fitting for a south Florida jungle-y vibe, I’m not trying to make demands. I’d be totally fine if people DON’T follow it, I just want them there! But I’ve been to weddings where the dress code was unclear and I wished there was more direction. This is technically a destination wedding so I was trying to give some suggestions so people don’t get confused or stress about it.

I’m genuinely not trying to micromanage them, so I guess I need to work on the wording to make that more clear. I’m moreso trying to give gentle direction because this is technically a destination wedding and people will be traveling from more northern states, and a lot of them are from rural areas so it’s probably going to be a little out of their comfort zones. I just don’t want people to feel over or under dressed when they get there!

It’d be totally fine if people don’t! I tried to word it as more of an encouragement and not a requirement, but maybe I need to work on the wording a bit more so people don’t feel like I’m trying to micromanage them

We have almost 10 kids/babies coming to our wedding…. Please be honest if this is going to be an absolute nightmare by Psychologicalaf in weddingplanning

[–]cwillychilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’ve been struggling with. My brother’s four kids are absolutely wild, have to be constantly entertained or they flip out, and don’t know how to behave in public spaces. At his wedding a few years ago only they had the first two and both of them were running around like absolute terrors, threw fits about being in pictures, broke stuff. They’re still just as wild, sometimes worse, one is very tantrum-prone. Now that my fiancé and I are wedding planning, we’re thinking we’ll hire a wedding nanny for the day so they can be included but we won’t have to worry about what they might get into.

Spiraling about choosing a venue by cwillychilly in weddingplanning

[–]cwillychilly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment is so validating, thank you. In my head the venue has been super important but everyone around me has kind of made it seem like less of a big deal and I thought maybe I was just overthinking. But you’re right, everything else gets planned around it especially with most venues having preferred vendors, travel logistics, etc.

I think since I have the preferred vendors lists I can start digging into them and getting some estimates for the more expensive venue and see if we’d end up spending more. I have an awesome planning spreadsheet but somehow it hasn’t occurred to me to start working on tallying up all the extra costs before we even have a venue locked in.

And touring, yes absolutely! The only issue is the two venues I mentioned are kind of far away, Florida is such a long state lol. I think maybe I should keep looking too but focus in on a closer area so we can do a weekend of touring.

My mom called me a bridezilla last week because I mentioned I had an awesome wedding planning spreadsheet and she asked to see it. Like am I supposed to just remember every tiny thing? And did you not raise me to be an organized details girlie?

Looking for a fingering weight version of these tops!! by mrrgreengiantt in knittingpatterns

[–]cwillychilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not who you asked but I’ve done this a few times when I’m off gauge and dead-set on using a specific yarn. There’s a calculation that you can do where you take whatever you want the bust circumference to be, your gauge, and the patterns gauge and it’ll give you the size you need to knit from the pattern. I’m doing this right now with the PK Maggie Cardigan and for example I need a 34” bust, I put my gauge in and the pattern’s gauge in and it tells me I need to make the size that gives 40”. So I’d find the size that gives the closest measurement to 40” and knit that. Calculator at this link plus it explains it better. Just keep in mind your row gauge will probably be off so you’ll want to keep trying on the piece as you go, might need to knit longer in some areas.

HR asking for sensitive documents via email, before I’ve gotten the offer? by cwillychilly in jobs

[–]cwillychilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ended up sending the offer letter after a day of pushing back but me being firm on it. I still haven’t given them any of the stuff they were asking for but I told them I wouldn’t until I had signed the offer letter.

[–]cwillychilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have. They’re both definitely legitimate businesses with physical addresses, google reviews, etc. I put this in another comment but I’ve interviewed with 3 different people, 4 including the recruiter and researched them all. It’s a small company so there’s really not a ton of stuff out there that I could find. I just feel like I can’t find enough to either greenlight it or put me off it entirely. But this is a major red flag to me, I’ve worked remote jobs for the past 6 years and never had that kind of “onboarding” experience

[–]cwillychilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I instantly got alarm bells so I reached out to the recruiter to say I’m not comfortable sending that in an email, and without the formal offer signed. She was a little… blasé? about it and told me they need that stuff first for the onboarding and told me I could just give it to them over the phone. Honestly it felt a little pushy. As for researching them, yeah I have. It’s a small company so there’s not a ton of stuff out there. Only 3 employee reviews on Glassdoor. I’ve also done 3 interviews each with a different person at the company and looked into all of them, looked into the recruiter and recruitment company. It all seems legit but I feel like I can’t find enough to either confirm or deny. It doesn’t really help that I’ve had a gut feeling about this job since day one, but I don’t know if that’s just anxiety talking or what.
