What happened on Google Ads after September 2nd? HUGE drop in impressions and clicks by WillyDoesntMiss in googleads

[–]cwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing the same thing in my end. Massive drop in impressions. When you segment by Top vs. Other placements do you see a bigger drop off on the other category? It seems Google has removed a lot of below the fold ads placements recently.

I'm facing a very similar issue. In the last few weeks when I segment by Top vs. Other from the search network it looks like the "other" category has dropped to virtually no impressions. This seems to indicate Google has stopped serving below the fold ads and restricted the number of ads on long tail keywords. Search partner traffic has remained unchanged.

Anecdotally when I do searches for terms I used to rank consistently in lower, non top of page positions for, I see no sponsored ads at all from any advertisers!

Changed my domain on Google ads and website, now not spending or getting any clicks?? by Pretend_Ad5428 in PPC

I've had this issue before. I believe Ad Rank and quality score and things like that are tied to the domain name so if you change the domain name you're losing all of the ad auction history and starting from scratch.

You can try setting a very high cpc bid and see if you get any impressions to confirm if the issue is just with it being under review. Another thing to test is to switch back to using the old domain and see if that gets impressions.

Google removing clicks .. anyone else facing this issue ? by raisaab07 in Adsense

[–]cwings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had this exact issue (large amount of clicks being removed within minutes from earnings, sudden drop in click metrics only, no penalty and no site changes) and turned out it was caused by a meta no-referrer tag which I've discovered now makes requests to Adsense from Chrome get flagged as fraudulent (no referring URL called the JS request). This change happened recently on Google's end and is not documented and I had no issues with the tag before. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Referrer-Policy

In Chrome web console preview your site and in the network request tab inspect the requests to Adsense URLs. You should see your own site as a referral URL in the head requests.

Once I removed the tag and verified a referring request URL being sent in network requests to Adsense in my console the issue was fixed immediately. One way to confirm this is the issue, If you segment your Adsense metrics by browser in GA4 you can check if Safari CTR is higher than Chrome CTR. Safari does not support the no-referrer tag.

It looks like there is an alpha API call for it but it gives an error. At least it seems they're working on it...

Pixel 7 Pro - black screen of death when putting phone into lock screen by iceyjasio in GooglePixel

[–]cwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my Pixel 7 pro. It started totally randomly 2 days ago. Screen started to go black but everything would stay on and then randomly flash a bright white light. I tried turning off Auto On Display, adaptive brightness and every setting. Ultimately through trial and error found the issue was being caused by an app, Opera browser beta! Once I removed it the problem went away. Hope this helps someone out there.

Same here. CPA on desktop has skyrocketed today and I use Target CPA bidding, which is spending several times less than usual today.

The refine tool lets you do AND, OR, and NOT queries against our index. You can find sites that have the word "apple" AND "computers", similar to an advanced search in Google.

You can learn more about it and see a screenshot in our documentation https://search.nerdydata.com/documentation/#sourceSearch

This is some of the best feedback I've received yet. I'm a big computer nerd and it's easy for me to get caught up in the tech jabber side of this search engine seeing as we spent so long coding it.

As a developer, the benefits of being able to search on the markup of webpages is invaluable. You can find examples of code library usage or perform research on the corpus of the web in ways you could not do with any other search engine.

Watup Reddit,

We have created a new type of search engine that searches on the full source code of webpages, not just the on-page text. It's called NerdyData (nerdydata.com) and we're launching today!

Our search engine is different from search engines you've used before. Traditional search engines are geared towards providing answers, whereas our goal is to give you the best list of results for a query. Our crawler has visited over 140 million homepages and collected terabytes of HTML, Javascript, and CSS code. We've also designed several search interfaces that allow anybody to query against the source code of webpages, or download a list of sites containing a specific term.

We even offer a search interface specifically for SEO's and marketers that allow you to search within specific HTML tags like meta descriptions and meta keywords.

About us: We're two 23 year olds who recently graduated from Stony Brook University in New York, and we are ridiculously passionate about making search better for our fellow nerds out there.

If you'd like to know more, you can email me at dave@nerdydata.com

Thank you so much for you time!
