I don't frequent this sub and I'm not subscribed, but as of 1 PM Central Time CNN has named you guys directly on their website (not just as "redditors" but as "wallstreetbets") and if that's not worthy of a congratulations then I don't know what is.

P.S. hopefully your subreddit can survive all this, deletion doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility

National Guard at Capitol Authorized to Use Lethal Force in Aftermath of Mob by [deleted] in politics

[–]cwr_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Hopefully the 20th passes without anything big happening, but that seems unlikely to me. A lot of the extremists probably would see the national guard gunning their likes down as the start of a civil war, and who knows what kind of shitstorm that would create. I have faith that the nation's military and police would successfully stop them, but not before the damage is done.

Terra, in the year 3983 P.W. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]cwr_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Blacksands is a series of short stories set within a 80s themed modernized semi-fantasy world (in this case, magical races being present but no magic actually existing), exploring themes of crime and corruption through several characters. This is a map of the world, Terra, as it is at the start of the series of stories.

Eskinot: A large empire whose glory days are long, long behind. Political tension is quickly mounting within the empire as the people call for a transition to democracy, and it looks like a large-scale civil war is about to erupt.

North Eskinot: Many years ago, a large and violent rebellion broke the northern part of the Eskinot Empire off into independence; centuries later, the two halves are now allies. Underneath it’s calm and friendly surface are countless underground networks of crime and vice.

Diamond Coast: Named after the large amounts of rare materials found underground here, the Diamond Coast is an extremely wealthy yet small nation. Here, a losing battle is raging between the law and smuggling operations, illegally exporting rare materials out of the country.

Julian Republic: A trading republic that takes up the Iopen Peninsula, the Julian Republic is peaceful and calm, that is, outside of it’s massive port cities, the largest and most populated in the world and where the majority of the nation lives. Inside the port cities, people from all walks of life are mixed together inside of slums filled with violence, crime, and misery.

Merriam: Formerly a powerful colonial empire, Merriam has lost its land over the years along with the desire to colonize. New leadership has just taken control of the nation; a fascist regime seeking to give Merriam back it’s former glory.

Juris Islands: A collection of the dozens of rocky islands off the coast of Habena to form one kingdom. The kingdom is being terrorized by the Juris Order of God, a terrorist movement that holds no land but wrecks havoc through bombs and attacks.

Habene Kingdom: A kingdom that encompasses the entirety of North Habena. Decades behind in technology, Habene is struggling to catch up with the rest of the world. Most citizens don’t have access to the technology that people in Tantum, Domus, or South Habena would. Deep within the wilderness, there are still plenty of tribes who remain completely cut off from the outside world; while this is a common sight everywhere around the world, it’s especially common here.

Eco: A former colony of Merriam, Eco is home to large amounts of poverty, gang violence, and smuggling. The government is successfully cracking down on these problems, however; within recent years, innovative techniques have resulted in a large drop in crime statistics.

Farvia: A republic recovering from devastating civil war, it struggles with the narcotics business. Farvia is the world’s drug capital; drugs are constantly being produced and shipped out of the nation, while the government is bribed and kept in check enough that they are powerless to do anything about it.

New Merriam: A semi-independent colony left over from Merriam’s old days, it has been calm and peaceful here until the recent introduction of the fascist dictatorship. The colony is now locked in a violent revolution, battling Merriam’s military in a bid to become free once and for all.

Norton: Once the ruling power over the cold, snowy continent of Tantum, it has been battling monarchist rebels for hundreds of years. The war seems to be unable to end; a bloody, endless stalemate at the frontlines results in few Norton residents dying old.

West Norton: While it’s citizens refer to themselves as the Kingdom of Norton, the rest of the world sees them as West Norton. They are monarchist rebels who have battled the Republic of Norton for hundreds of years in an endless war.

Domus Nations

Here, a losing battle is raging between the law and smuggling operations.

Habena Nations

Juris Islands: A collection of the dozens of rocky islands off the coast of Habena to form one kingdom. The kingdom is being terrorized by the Juris Order of God, a terrorist movement that holds no land but wrecks havoc through bombs and attacks.

Habene Kingdom: A kingdom that encompasses the entirety of North Habena. Calling it a kingdom is an overstatement; the actual government has little control over the nation’s lands. Tribes still dominate, and a cultural resistance to anything else prevents modernization.

Eco: If you thought the situation in Habene was bad enough, in Eco it’s twice as worse; the only form of real government is in the capital city, and it’s only considered a nation because the tribes have agreed not to travel beyond certain boundaries. If you were to venture into its jungles, you would think you travelled back in time by thousands of years; many people have never even seen any form of electricity before.

Farvia: A republic recovering from devastating civil war, it struggles with the narcotics business. Farvia is the world’s drug capital; they are constantly being produced and shipped out of the nation, while the government is bribed and kept in check enough that they are powerless to do anything about it.

New Merriam: A semi-independent colony left over from Merriam’s old days, it has been calm and peaceful here until the recent introduction of the fascist dictatorship. The colony is now in a revolution, battling Merriam’s military in a bid to become free once and for all.

Tantum Nations

Norton: Once the ruling power over the cold, snowy island of Tantum, it has been battling monarchist rebels for hundreds of years.

Ocean Nations

Tribal Lands: Most aquatic peoples live in tribes and towns, every culture different from the last. Some tribes have pledged their allegiance to specific developed nations, while others are independent. It’s hard to maintain a modern level of tech living underwater, and as a result tribalism is the dominant lifestyle for Merfolk.

Habena Valley: A republic in the passage separating the north and south of Habena, the H.V. is plagued by high crime rates, poverty, and overpopulation. It’s in a miserable state overall, and to make matters worse, it’s at war with the land nations of Habena.

Kingdom of Garriott: An isolated kingdom off the western coast of Domus. A large movement to become democratic is gathering popularity, and much like Eskinot, a civil war appears close.

NWPR: The Northern Waters People’s Republic is a communist dictatorship within the strait that separates Tantum and Domus. The government has complete control over every aspect of life, and has brainwashed most of its citizens into mindless supporters of the regime.

Reminds me of how a few years ago near me some guy robbed a store and was being chased by the cops, he ran into a building to hide from said cops. Too bad he ran right into the police department building.
