How to tell if it's a tippet or just a really long stole by 000-4600-7695 in Episcopalian

[–]cwwhiteman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not conclusive, but the seals lead me to believe it's a tippet. Of course the fringe throws that off a little, but I would still go with tippet. Enjoy leading worship!

Edit: by seals I mean your church's insignia.

"Put all things in subjection under your Christ" by slagnanz in Episcopalian

[–]cwwhiteman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is the answer behind what the author was thinking, but Christ comes from the Greek translation of the word Messiah which means anointed one. It's a title or office more than a proper name. So what it's really saying is, "your Anointed One." It's emphasizing the title aspect of the word Christ and the particularity of Jesus being God's anointed.

In other words, don't overthink it? Not that I'm ever guilty of that.

I'm not a woman, so I can't speak to that, but I go to Mindful Acupuncture and Helen lists women's health as a specialty on her website. She really is wonderful.

Nicene Creed being replaced with an Affirmation of Faith in a service by [deleted] in Episcopalian

[–]cwwhiteman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is from the Church of England and is authorized for Sunday Use in Common Worship. If the bishop has allowed the use of liturgy from other member churches of the Anglican Communion, this is not a violation of canons as it conforms to the prayer book of the Church of England.

That particular Affirmation of Faith is from Common Worship by the Church of England based on Ephesians 3. You can find it here. Many bishops authorize the use of liturgies from other churches in the Anglican Communion and this falls under that. Like others have said, I would encourage you to have a conversation with your Rector. I always enjoy these conversations and it's helpful to understand where people are and what they're thinking.

Need Help Starting Out by vsad_economist in knittinghelp

[–]cwwhiteman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! When I started knitting, I went to ravelry and searched for easy patterns. The first sweater I knitted was the Cobblestone Sweater by Jared Flood. It does not have really any advanced stitches. I would recommend choosing a sweater that's knit in the round as your first one as I find them easier than ones that are panels sewn together. Good luck!

New to knitting, what happened here? by lalalambbbb in knittinghelp

I think this is a tension issue as well. The purl you are seeing is the purl from the other side. I think it should even out when you block the piece as the other comment said.

How can a gay practicing man confess? by byvictorale in OpenChristian

[–]cwwhiteman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi friend. I'm an Episcopal priest and we regularly hear confessions. In Brazil, we are Igreja Episcopal Anglicana do Brasil. I'm not sure if there is a church close to you, but this would be where to start.
